We're searching for a Logistics Advisor to join our team at Edmonton Material Control Centre. Apply today to be considered for this exciting opportunity!As a Logistics Advisor, you will support the Central Transportation Management function and activities, drive and enable transportation strategies, provide overall management of transportation activities for a specified region while driving continuous improvement within logistics and transportation.
Minimum Requirements:
- Post-secondary Business diploma, SCM Professional or Professional Logistics designation preferred
- 5+ years related work experience directly within transportation roles
- Direct experience within transportation, freight forwarding, logistics, and materials management
- Familiar with Dangerous Goods, Incoterms, Canada’s Transportation Act, exporting/importing, customs clearance, air, rail, marine transportation methods, as well as with commodities such as bulk piping, bulk and packaged chemicals, catalysts, and heavy industrial mining equipment
- Demonstrates understanding in a significant variety of Supply Chain competencies related to Warehouse, Procurement, and Inventory Management
- Ability to quantify risk, assess trends and opportunities, define objectives, and proactively mitigate risk
- Fluent in SAP, Word, and Excel
Key Accountabilities:
- Coach and provide guidance on transportation best practices with internal peers and stakeholders
- Coordinate transportation requirements, track and trace, solicit transportation quotes for over-dimensional freight and international shipments
- Support and implement transportation strategies to achieve Warehouse, Supply Operations, Supply Chain, and Suncor business objectives
- Resolve issues related to logistics and transportation activities, escalating unresolved issues to leaders throughout Inbound Logistics and Supply Chain organizations
- Ensure carrier compliance to load securement as well as safe loading/offloading procedures and processes
- Engage in Incident Learnings to help assess and improve carrier performance. Perform root cause and trend analyses to identify reasons for non-compliance and propose solutions
- Cost conscious - propose strategies to minimize the cost or time required to transport goods, look for synergies to capitalize on backhaul transportation
- Engage with cross-functional teams to evaluate business unit requirements, communicate best practices, expectations, efficiencies and evaluate process optimization opportunities

- You will work out of our Edmonton Control Centre in Edmonton, Alberta
- The shift schedule is Monday to Friday
