Position Title: Junior Digital Solutions Engineer
Status: Full-Time Support Staff
Hours: 40 hours per week
Faculty/Department: Information Technology Services
Campus/Location: North campus
Salary: FT Support Payband J (Start $42.56 – Max $49.34)

About the Information Technology Services at Humber:
Digital Solutions is about helping “the business” (Humber Polytechnic and the University of Guelph Humber) optimize the way it operates and delivers value to the community. Think of the team as creative problem solvers with a proven record of leveraging technology and supporting capabilities to deliver tangible results. Established in 2019 as a business unit of Information Technology Services, key areas of focus for Digital Solution include hosting & infrastructure, networking & telecommunications; personal computing & mobility; personal productivity & team collaboration; and teaching & learning solutions. The team also enables institutional research. In summary, Digital Solutions’ mandate is to pursue solutions that remove barriers and make people’s lives better!

About the Junior Digital Solutions Engineer Role:

Junior Digital Solutions Engineers operate and maintain technical solutions that support/enable Humber’s business outcomes. They also assist in designing, building, and securing new products/services under the guidance of (Senior) Digital Solutions Engineers. Solutions typically include hardware, software, people, procedures, and/or data. Day-to-day activities include assisting with the following: (1) performing the “work”; (2) evolving the continuous delivery pipeline; (3) building in quality; (4) adapting to change; (5) decomposing stories; (6) owning estimates; (7) sizing stories; and (8) shipping features. Junior Digital Solution Engineers are expected to stay abreast of industry developments and emerging technologies.

Education
Three year diploma/degree or equivalent in Computer Sciences and/or Information Technology Management

Experience/Skills
Minimum three years of hands-on experience in large, complex environments helping to design, build, operate, maintain, and secure enterprise-class solutions of a digital nature.

• Information Technology Infrastructure Library v4 Foundations, Agile Certified Practitioner (Project Management Institute), and A+ (CompTIA)
• Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure (Microsoft)
• Oracle Linux System Administrator (Oracle)
• Red Hat Certified Engineer (Red Hat), Server+ (CompTIA)
• VMware Certified Professional 6.5 - Data Center Virtualization (VMware)
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, Network+ (CompTIA), and/or Security+ (CompTIA)
