About the role

The Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC) Combat Systems (CS) Integrated Product Team (IPT) is seeking a Systems Engineer to join the Integrated Bridge and Navigation System (IBNS) team.

The successful candidate, as part of a multi-disciplinary team, will participate in engineering activities including but not limited to:
  • Collaborating on system design activities with systems engineering and other engineering staff, including supporting technical reviews
  • Evaluating design evidence and assessing compliance to requirements, regulations and design standards
  • Preparing design documentation, engineering change requests and assessing impacts of design changes
  • Coordinating inputs to Sub-Contractor Data Requirements List (SDRL) deliverables

What you bring to the role

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Science or related field
  • Two (2) years of relevant professional experience. Equivalent experience/combined education will be considered
  • Aptitude for solving challenging problems in a team environment
  • Have a high degree of initiative and autonomy
  • Have a high learning ability
  • Possess outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • An understanding of and ability to follow systems engineering processes and best practices.

Additional skills desired for the role

  • Experience in Systems Engineering and/or System Architecture within a defense context
  • Experience with Military Naval domain, or integration of Combat Systems on Naval Ships
  • Experience with design and/or integration of Naval Ship Bridge and Navigation Systems

Language Requirements in Quebec

Knowledge of the English language is required for this role as the position described in this posting requires the candidate to communicate every day with a virtual team outside Quebec as well as communicate with different members of the organization, clients and suppliers located outside of Canada. For engineering positions, the candidate must also be able to read or modify technical documents from our main clients and write technical documents for these same clients.
