Without a mindset change, growth, and personal development, it’s extremely hard to achieve success in life. And one of the ways you grow as an individual is by changing your habits. How badly do you want to achieve your dreams? Buddha famously said, The mind is everything — what you think you become.” If Buddha said it, you’ll know how powerful a mindset change can be.

Why a mindset change can do wonders for your life.

Nonetheless, in the social media age and the various distractions which come from that — it can be challenging to reach your potential. It’s easy to get stuck looking at the actions of others instead of focusing on yourself. But distractions aren’t going to help you achieve your dreams.

The Law of Attraction is a philosophy that you can achieve anything your mind perceives if you genuinely believe it, but that’s easier said than done. This article will show you the benefits of adopting a growth mindset instead of a fixed mindset and how that will help you succeed in any career.

Firstly, let’s look at some essential habits that you can adopt today that’ll change your life. Some people think — and it’s a wrong belief — that you need to make big changes in your life to achieve success. Actually, minor daily habits can significantly change the course of your life.

Here are some mindset change examples you can use:

Minor mindset changes that you need to try out!

1 - Making your bed every morning

When anyone first joins the military, they’ll quickly find out the importance of making their bed. Of course, if soldiers don’t make their bed, they’re going to have the drill sergeant screaming in their faces. From the outside, you might wonder why making your bed is so important? Why does the military take it so seriously? It’s very simple — if you make your bed daily, you’ve already accomplished the first task of the day.

You’ll enjoy a sense of pride and accomplishment before you’ve even taken on the world. It’ll prepare you to accomplish all your goals in the day ahead. Nonetheless, making your bed in the morning isn’t uncommon. Around 70 percent of Americans make their bed every morning. Although there isn’t much research on the benefits of making your bed, there is plenty of research on the benefits of living in an organized, clutter-free environment.

Research suggests that those with untidy homes often have issues with stress, mental health, and emotional regulation. They also have a poorer executive function. Further studies show that cluttering prevents you from processing important information, and older people living in a tidier environment have greater brain function and general quality of life. So next time you watch a military television show and the drill sergeant is shouting angrily at troops for not making their bed, you’ll now understand there’s actually a method to the madness. Plus, it’s a mindset change that can really help your life.

2 - Preparing your meals

Diet is one of the most important ingredients for a successful life. As the famous saying goes, you are what you eat. Needless to say, it’s challenging to eat healthy when there’s fast food on every street corner. Let’s face it; eating McDonald’s and KFC is delicious and so convenient to purchase. However, you should prepare your meals the day before to ensure you eat better food.

One of the most significant benefits of meal preparation is reducing stress. You don’t have to worry about food during the day when you’ve already prepared your meals. Instead, you can fully focus on your tasks and have the greatest day possible. You’ll also save money, time, you’ll lose weight, you’ll learn the art of portion control, and it’s an overall investment in your health.

Research even shows that meal prepping causes a lower risk of obesity and improved overall mental health. Then again, the research found that only 57 percent of people occasionally prepare their food. Meal preparations are just one of the countless ways you can implement discipline into your life through daily habits to improve your chances of success.

3 - Preparing your clothes the night before

Prepare your clothes the night before can seem like an effortless task, yet many people simply don’t do it. However, you want to feel refreshed and stress-free when you wake up in the morning. You want to start the day with only one focus, achieving all your goals. Therefore, you don’t want to wake up worrying about what clothes you should wear.

Have you ever woken up in the morning and thought, where are my keys? Where is my wallet? Where is my mobile phone? It’s stressful, right? When you pack your clothes the day before, you’ll decrease your stress the following morning. You’ll even sleep better knowing that everything is ready when you wake up.

If you join the military, preparing yourself before you sleep is one of the first things they will teach you. It’s a mindset change that creates immense discipline, and we all need some discipline to succeed in this competitive world.

4 - Meditating

Life in the Western world is fast-paced, and we constantly think about our future goals. That’s just our culture and the way society has programmed us. Without a doubt, achieving success means you’ll have to consistently think positive, affirm your goals, and plan for success. Yet, that doesn’t mean you should think about the future 24/7. Actually, it’s quite the opposite.

Many Eastern cultures have mastered the art of staying present throughout their life, and they do that through daily meditation. Meditation will help you feel present. After all, it’s hard to master the present when you’re constantly thinking about the future.

Mediation will help you with the following things:

  • Less stress
  • Less anxiety
  • Stronger emotional health
  • Longer attention span
  • Greater sleep
  • Decreased blood pressure

Did you know that mediation can even generate kindness? Various studies prove that meditation can improve your compassion towards other people. For example, during a study of 153 adults using a mindfulness meditation app for 14 days, they were able to reduce feelings of loneliness and increase social contact with people around them. Most importantly, mediation can improve self-awareness, and that’s critical if you want to succeed.

Is meditation easy? Absolutely no. When you first start meditating, you’re going to feel itches and discomfort. Slowing your thoughts down is very hard when you have no meditation experience. Arnold Schwarzenegger — who needs zero introduction — used to meditate for 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes at night during his younger days. He did this to reduce anxiety during heavy workdays. Arnold is just one of many successful people that used meditation to fuel their inner peace and success. Mediation often triggers a mindset change itself once you perfect it.

The seven types of mindset that you should adopt

Nobody is born with an excellent mindset. We learn our mindset from the people we surround ourselves with — whether that’s our friends, family, or even our colleagues at work.

People around us can affect our mindset! So we have to be diligent.

But we can always start a mindset change and remove our conditioning. Here are seven mindsets you can adopt to get ahead:

  • Self-trusted mindset - A self-trusted mindset is critical if you’re going to succeed. You need to trust yourself and your own gut feeling. You need to believe you can achieve your goals. It’s utterly essential.
  • Goal-setting mindset - If you don’t know what you want — you’ll never achieve anything. You need to set goals and work hard towards them.
  • Patience mindset - Success takes time. There are no shortcuts to success in life, and you’ll need to adopt a patient mindset to overcome roadblocks.
  • Courageous mindset - There’s a famous saying in the U.K: no guts, no glory. You need to take some risks in your career and life to succeed. Trust your gut feeling and take calculated risks that will benefit you.
  • Focused mindset - The Western world is becoming more external. We are continually looking outwards and trying to avoid distractions, such as social media. However, you need to adopt a focused mindset to succeed. Whatever you want from life, you should think about that with laser-beam focus.
  • Positive mindset - Your thoughts will determine almost everything in your life, literally almost everything. Nobody becomes successful without incredible positivity, and you need to adopt a positive mindset.
  • Learning mindset - You never know everything. So despite how successful you already are, you’ll achieve far more in life if you continue to learn.

The six things successful people focus on to achieve greatness

The six things successful people focus on to achieve greatness!

1 - An adequate sleeping pattern

There’s been a lot of debate around the importance of sleep in the business world. It’s not uncommon to hear people say that sleep is a bad thing. In the days of hustle porn, a concept that’s come around in recent years, it’s become almost cool to sleep three days daily and work 16 hours every day. Of course, working hard is absolutely essential to success. But then again, so is sleep.

According to various studies, sleep loss makes people far more likely to make errors and emissions. That’s primarily because of increased reaction times and reduced awareness from a lack of rest. Therefore, sleepy employees unsurprisingly take longer to react in critical situations and are more likely to make a mistake. For doctors, first responders, and truck drivers, a lack of sleep is a matter of life and death.

Furthermore, a lack of sleep is bad for the people surrounding you. You need to get along with your peers in your company if you want to enjoy a successful career in any industry. For example, you won’t become an excellent salesperson if you struggle to work well within a team. Studies prove that poor sleep leaves you vulnerable to anger, irritation, and stress. That’s because when you’re tired, and you experience stressful situations, you become more emotional.

If that’s not enough, a lack of sleep over time can lead to chronic mental health issues. You may experience higher levels of stress and anxiety, leading to possible mental breakdowns and poorer performance at work. And it doesn’t stop there; employee fatigue costs employees just under $2,000 per year in productivity. In turn, that costs U.S companies $136.4 billion yearly.

The moral of the story — make sure you enjoy a healthy amount of sleep every night. The amount of sleep required varies for everyone. However, most adults aren’t Margaret Thatcher (who famously slept 3 hours per night). You should aim for around 6-9 hours. It’s a mindset change that will impact your life instantly.

2 - A balanced diet

You are what you eat. It’s a cliche phrase, and you’ve probably heard it before. Nevertheless, it’s still entirely true. Following on from the previous important point about getting plenty of sleep, having a poor diet can also lead to fatigue in the workplace. On the other hand, eating a balanced diet of healthy foods will increase your energy levels and alertness. That’s why eating a healthy breakfast is so essential despite many people skipping breakfast.

Furthermore, drinking is critical for feeling refreshed and productive at work. It’s easy to rehydrate yourself if you’re working in a hot office without air conditioning. So ensure you drink plenty of water every day. Perhaps 2-3 liters of water even if you’re not feeling thirsty. Keep a big bottle of water in your office, and if you’re working in a developed nation, you can always fill it up with tap water.

Do you enjoy drinking coffee? There’s nothing like an excellent caffeine rush before a hard day of working. But did you know caffeine can dehydrate your body and increase your stress levels? Dehydration is unlikely, but it’s still a possibility. That said, drinking a couple of coffees per day is okay. Just make sure you’re not drinking one every hour.

Another massive problem of having a poor diet is a lack of self-control. For example, you shouldn’t make big life decisions when you’re hungry because when you’re hungry, your body releases the ghrelin hormone. Studies have found this hormone can impact decision-making processes and impulses. That’s significantly negative when you’re working in sales, and your decisions can make or break a company.

And it doesn’t stop there. Did you know that letting your glucose bottom out at lunchtime, you’re better to eat controlled portions during the day? Sadly, having spikes and drops in blood pressure is bad for the brain. So instead, smaller frequent meals help maintain your glucose throughout the day, enabling you to perform at a more consistent level. Some employees, on the other hand, will eat very little food all day. As a result, overall health, alertness, concentration, and mental wellbeing drop. Your workplace performance then drops significantly.

3 - Lots of great exercises

Having the perfect beach body helps us feel good about ourselves. Nonetheless, that’s just one meager benefit of exercising. In reality, the benefits of obtaining a regular exercise routine are enormous. You probably didn’t know that 76 percent of rich people workout for at least 30 minutes every day.

Various billionaires swear by the importance of daily exercise. Here are some examples:

However, despite the proven importance of exercise, fewer than 5 percent of adults workout for 30 minutes daily. You’re going to enjoy various advantages over other people if you commit to working out daily. It will remove stress, give you an endorphin rush, improve physical health, improve mental health, and help you maintain discipline.

4 - Daily affirmations

If you look at all the high achievers in the world, they all believe in the power of affirmations. Now, of course, affirmations are different for everyone. Your affirmations might be related to becoming the next multi-billionaire tycoon. Alternatively, your affirmations could be as simple as owning your home. Whatever your affirmations are — you should practice them daily.

Guess what? There’s science behind the importance of affirmations (it’s just some spiritual guru talk.) Research has proven that self-affirmations reduce stress, help us achieve greater academic success, make us less likely to ignore harmful messages, and help us increase our physical behavior. Furthermore, various research found that smokers reacted less dismissively to warnings on cigarette packets when they used affirmations.

In a world where negativity is constantly forced upon us —whether that’s by our peers or the media — there’s never been a more important time to focus on affirmations. We can’t control much about our surroundings, and in fact, we can control almost nothing. But we can always control our thoughts and how positive our mindset is. Therefore, positive affirmations are genuinely incredibly powerful in a world of uncertainty.

5 - A willingness to continually learn

One of the top trends between successful people is the desire to learn. It doesn’t matter what career you pursue in life; you never know everything. You should always be willing to learn more, even if you’re the best in your field. After all, change comes from the ability to learn a mindset change. Many current employees agree, and here are some statistics:

If you’re trying to progress in a career, you’ll need to remain relevant. Industries change, and it’s easy to forget you if you don’t remain relevant. Therefore, stay up-to-date with the latest trends and keep learning. Secondly, if you’re always learning, you’ll continue to boost your profile. Then, you’ll start getting recommendations from your colleagues and managers and sharply move through the career ladder.

Thirdly, continuous learning will help you evolve and change your perspective. The more you learn, the better you’ll get at seeing different angles of any situation. You’ll become a better employee and a better leader if you can understand various angles at once. When you join a sales course, you’ll stay in touch with modern trends and surround yourself with people that can give you a mindset change. That’s a massive win-win for you.

6 - The mindset of accepting failure

We’re about to tell you something very important — failure is not fatal; it’s actually a positive thing. You should never be afraid of failure because it’s not a reflection of you. Instead, you should undergo a mindset change to embrace failure because all successful people failed many times before they finally won.

Did you know it took Sir James Dyson — the founder of Dyson vacuum cleaners — over 15 years to develop a bagless vacuum that worked? Then, after all the time, he struggled to get people to believe in the product. But, he never gave up, and he’s become a multi-billionaire because of it. Although Sir James Dyson is one of the world’s most famous entrepreneurs, did you know the average millionaire goes bankrupt at least 3.5 times before finding success?

The Beatles, the world’s most successful and influential band in history, failed numerous times before getting a record contract. The Beatles performed at Decca Studios, London, in 1962 and got rejected because guitar music wasn’t the future. Today, John Lennon and Sir Paul Mccartney’s songwriting, melodies, and musical innovation are legendary. But they wouldn’t have been legendary if they didn’t learn to accept failure.

Sylvester Stallone is one of the world’s most famous people. He could walk through Beijing, and fans would mob him. That said, it wasn’t always that way for the famed Hollywood movie star. During his younger years, he couldn’t land any acting roles and was homeless for three weeks. Talent scouts rejected him 1,500 times. Yet, despite all the emotional pain of constant failure, he became nothing short of a legend. He learned to embrace failure and keep going. You can do the same.
