THE POSITION

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has an opening for a Clerical Assistant 2 at our Montgomery County Maintenance Office. This position will perform a variety of clerical support functions at this facility.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position will report to the Clerical Supervisor 2 and/or Roadway Programs Coordinator and perform a variety of office work such as the following:


  • Responsible for a variety of clerical support functions for winter operations with primary function as office receptionist.
  • Answers all incoming phone calls, documents and forwards calls to necessary staff.
  • Inputs and maintains all complaints and concerns in the Customer Care Center (CCC).
  • Inputs and maintains Road Closure Reporting System(RCRS) conditions for winter operations.
  • Gathers traffic restrictions information from Assistant Managers, prepares information and sends to District Traffic Unit.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. (Summer hours 7:00am to 3:00pm)
  • Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $34,621 (before taxes).
  • Overtime as needed.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (commonwealth title); or
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
