Overview:


Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Operations Services Unit (OSU) supports Operations Business Units (BUs) with optimizing, designing and implementing cross-BU initiatives, value optimization programs, Operational Excellence and strategic implementation. OSU enhances Pembina’s pipeline and facilities systems to optimize throughput and value, develops decarbonization roadmaps in support of Pembina’s 30x30 ambitions, supports the project and initiative engagement and prioritization, provide ad-hoc SME support to BUs, provides support OEMs, Operational Excellence (OE), Operational Management Systems (OMS), and scale best practices across BUs.
Pembina is searching for an Analyst, Low Carbon and Program Management for OSU. Reporting to the General Manager, OSU, the successful candidate will be a key member of the team contributing to the Pembina’ Decarbonization Roadmap and Program Management.


Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

Operational Decarbonization Strategy

  • Assist in maintaining the decarbonization lever lists for all Pembina assets, marginal abatement cost curve (MACC) database, and decarbonization roadmaps for each asset and the entire Pembina asset base;
  • Perform strategic research into decarbonization projects (including operational, minor capital and major capital), including market positioning of low carbon products, carbon policy, energy transition, climate change resilience and risk management;
  • Identify new opportunities to decarbonize Pembina’s existing asset base through field visits, industry research and adapting existing lever libraries;
  • Support commercial development for decarbonization projects by evaluating economics and assessing competitive and strategic fit;
  • Actively participate in the development and preparation of internal approval documents including PowerPoint presentations, business case preparation and proposal memos for each step of Pembina’s investment review process for selected decarbonization projects; and
  • Participate in other ad hoc analysis as required.


Program Management

  • Support ongoing program management initiatives (e.g., sustaining capital, outage management and optimization);
  • Assist in leveraging technology to enable excellence in Operations;
  • Assist in designing, standardizing and rolling-out key processes and outputs that are common across business units; and
  • Support Program Managers in preparation of internal documents including PowerPoint presentations, business case presentations and proposal memos.


Work Effectiveness

  • Communicate complex ideas effectively, produce consider reports and presentations for all levels of the organization;
  • Build and grow key external relationships with producers, competitors and industry bodies;
  • Build and maintain internal relationships with Business and Service Units, especially with Operations teams;
  • Manage competing demands: keep opportunities organized while advancing multiple projects;
  • Ability to work with internal customers and people at all levels of the organization;
  • Team player with ability to take initiative and work independently;
  • Manage, write, and present synthesized content including but not limited to technical summaries, research reports, pitch presentations, and client data analytics;
  • Builds effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders;
  • Thinks creatively and proposes new solutions;
  • Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules; and

Qualifications:

  • Advanced quantitative degree, preferably in Business, Economics or Engineering or related fields from an accredited college or university;
  • 5 years+ of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Experience in facilities Operations / Engineering, especially in gas plants, fractionators or co-generation plants, strong preference given to current or former operations engineers in Pembina facilities;
  • Experience in operational decarbonization or energy efficiency projects;
  • Strong analytical skills with combining engineering design and financial modeling;
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications including expertise in Excel and Power Point;
  • High level of verbal & written communication skills along with, along with strong Collaboration and influencing competencies;
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen, creativity and innovation as it relates to understanding of potential decarbonization solutions;
  • Able to deal with changing priorities and focus, and can coordinate well with internal stakeholders; and
  • Excellent written and presentation skills are also a requirement of this position.


The successful candidate must live within 100 km of Calgary, AB.

Pembina’s Flexible Work Standard provides the option for eligible employees to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays.


The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. Final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
