Customer Service Representative (American Ground Screw, Inc.)

American Ground Screw, Inc. (AGS) is looking for a driven, team-oriented candidate to be our full-time exempt (40 hrs./wk.) Customer Service Representative. Established in 2017, AGS is the largest direct-to-consumer distributor of ground screw foundation products in North America, serving both the solar energy and construction markets. Ground screws are an alternative foundation product with significant environmental and performance advantgages over concrete and other deep foundation products. With AGS’s sales revenues doubling each of the past 2 years, this position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the growth of a successful early-stage company, in a rapidly growing market with compensation and advancement opportunities designed to reward long-term commitment.

The Customer Service Representative will assist the Business Development Manager by fielding incoming sales inquiries from company website, phone calls and emails and respond to customer questions regarding company products and services, as well as ensuring a quality customer experience by providing continued support. This position is office-based in our downtown Des Moines HQ. Starting salary is between $40,000-$45,000, plus bi-annual bonuses (of up to $2500 each), a competitive health insurance package, PTO (18 days) and retirement package (after first year).

Position reports to: Business Development Manager
Responsibilities of this Role:

  • Serves customers by providing product and service information and resolving product and service problems.
  • Attracts potential customers by answering product and service questions and suggesting information about other products and services.
  • Opens and maintains customer accounts by recording and updating account information.
  • Resolves product or service problems by clarifying the customer’s issue(s), determining the cause of the problem, selecting and explaining the best solution to solve the problem, expediting correction or adjustment, and following up to ensure resolution.
  • Recommends potential products or services to management by collecting customer information, analyzing customer needs and entering orders.
  • Prepares product or service reports by collecting and analyzing customer information.
  • Contributes to marketing and sales initiatives to further sales growth, as needed.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Proficiency with MS Office, CRM and phone systems required
  • Previous customer service in, or knowledge of, the solar or construction markets preferred
  • University/college degree preferred, but not required
  • Experience and interest in having a diverse workplace encouraged
