The Marketing Analytics and Business Insights (MABI) function supports AbbVie’s US organization and is comprised of highly respected researchers, analysts, data scientists and strategists who are committed to being best-in-class within the biopharmaceutical industry. As the Associate Director of Commercial Data Operations, you will be responsible for overseeing data acquisition, integration, delivery, and utilization across US Therapeutic Operations. You will develop and execute strategies for maximizing AbbVie’s investments in syndicated aggregated prescription and patient claims data from purchase (contracts) through transformation to the consumption layer.

Specifically, this role will support Brand Analytics, Sales Operations, Market Access, and Patient Services teams. Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Acquisition and Integration:
    • Develop effective strategies for acquiring Claims and Rx data from syndicated and specialty networks, ensuring diverse sources are utilized.
    • Manage vendor data contracts, budgets, and vendor relationships to ensure quality, compliance, and cost-effectiveness.
    • Define an effective data acquisition strategy through understanding of user needs, therapeutic area dynamics, and vendor data coverage and quality capabilities
    • Collaborate with stakeholders regularly to assess and acquire data based on their specific requirements, proactively addressing anomalies in data quality and supplier dynamics.
    • Work collaboratively with data stewards and IT teams to establish business rules and data quality standards for integrating commercial data.
    • Monitor and oversee data pipelines to ensure accurate and efficient ingestion, cleansing, and transformation of data, ensuring data quality standards are met.
    • Provide ownership of commercial data domains, being accountable for the quality, availability, and usability of Rx data, and resolve data issues promptly.
    • Manage both internal AbbVie resources and external offshore resources to successfully achieve business objectives and ensure smooth operations.
  • Data Delivery and Utilization:
    • Oversee the integration of Rx and Claims data from multiple vendors ensuring the anonymization of the data and data quality is maintained throughout the integration process.
    • Deliver consistent, trustworthy syndicated and specialty Rx and claims data to internal stakeholders across commercial functions.
    • Develop and implement data access governance policies and procedures.
    • Define and implement data quality rules and cleansing procedures.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to define data needs and translate them into actionable data delivery formats and reports.
  • Commercial Analytics and Operations Support:
    • Collaborate closely with sales operations teams to support sales force incentive compensation quota modeling and sales crediting.
    • Analyze trends and anomalies in external data, proactively data quality issues and coverage gaps to provide support for various business units
  • Technology and Systems:
    • Partner with IT teams to design, build, and manage secure and efficient data acquisition and reporting pipelines for commercial functions.
    • Stay up-to-date on data management technologies and trends, recommending solutions to improve data quality and accessibility.
    • Ensure compliance with data privacy and security regulations (e.g., HIPAA, CCPA).
  • Stakeholder Management:
    • Collaborate effectively with data owners, business system owners, platform owners, data operations teams, and other key stakeholders across the organization.
    • Effectively lead organizational change that improves data quality
    • Communicate commercial data operations challenges to stakeholders.

Qualifications


Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field, such as Information Systems.
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience with at least 5 years in data operations.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering high-quality data for patient-centric initiatives.
  • Deep understanding of commercial data sources and data needs within pharma (e.g., IQVIA, Symphony Health).
  • Strong analytical and data visualization skills.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage and motivate cross-functional teams.
  • Leadership experience and proven ability to drive improvements in commercial analytics and operations through data utilization.
  • Knowledge of data privacy and security regulations (e.g., HIPAA, CCPA).

Preferred:

  • Experience with data management tools and platforms (e.g., data warehouses, ETL tools).
  • Experience with healthcare data systems and platforms.
  • Experience working within a regulated environment.
  • Experience with managing Patient services programs
  • Project management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

  • We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off (vacation, holidays, sick), medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.

  • This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs.
