We are hiring a Collaborative Disability Determination Unit Manager (Disability Analysis and Adjudication Supervisor 2) to join our team!
In this position, you will manage the day-to-day operations for the Collaborative Disability Determination Unit's (CDDU's) work teams: the Presumptive Medicaid Disability Determination Team (PMDDT), the State Family Pre-SSI/SSDI (SFP) program, the General Assistance program, and the Disability Benefits Liaisons (DBL). You will supervise AS1’s, HSS3's and HSS4’s.

What you need to qualify
Four years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience to the class concept.
OR
One year of related experience and a bachelor's degree in a related field

We are looking for candidates with:
  • Experience with medical and/or mental health terminology and records.
  • Experience working with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Experience with ODHS program areas such as: APD, Self-Sufficiency programs, and Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities.
  • Experience collaborating with management teams in planning long- and short-term goals and developing work unit program objectives.
  • Experience evaluating team production, quality of work and processing times to meet or exceed performance goals and successes.

Your duties at a glance
Aging and Disability Services
As a Collaborative Disability Determination Unit Manager, you will:
  • Manage teams in a high-volume, case-processing environment of a technical and administrative nature that supports statewide programs.
  • Identify strengths and needs of staff individually and as a group.
  • Promote staff development, individually and as a group, to ensure optimal productivity and a cohesive work group.
  • Provide a positive work setting with focus on results and an environment that values innovation, production, and customer service.
  • Evaluate work units’ performance in the areas of program delivery of services to consumers and ODHS field offices.
  • Review unit performance of program delivery of services with input from CDDU managers, ODHS field managers, disability analysts, and Operations and Policy Analysts (OPA).
  • Identify training needs and facilitate the planning and implementation of training based on issues that are identified and/or according to feedback from the lead worker.
  • Design and implement training for new staff assigned to the unit.
  • Assign work to employees to meet agreed-upon goals using subordinate talents and abilities effectively.
  • Adjust and control individual and team workflow based on available resources, intake of applications, and expertise of employees.
  • Implement long-and short-term team goals and objectives as directed by executive leadership.
  • Recommends revisions to program policies/procedures.
  • Interpret collective bargaining agreements and ensure all conditions of the SEIU contract are enforced and that rules, regulations, and procedures from DHS are followed.
  • Attend management meetings to coordinate goals and strategic initiatives and provide input and recommendations on management proposals.
  • Compile and analyze statistical and technical reports to evaluate the quality of services provided.
  • Confer with reporting staff and draw conclusions and develops appropriate plans and recommendations for change.
  • Use analytical skills and statistical information, respond to requests for information regarding day-to-day business practices.
  • Collaborate with multiple divisions within ODHS/OHA, including APD, Self-Sufficiency (SSP), Office of Developmental Disabilities (ODDS) and Client Services (CS). Works with contracted Medical Consultants and Administrative Exam Providers. Routinely works in partnership with these components, focusing on cohesive program goals.
  • Answer questions, and explains program policies, procedures, and services to both internal and external groups.
  • Maintain good public relations with consumers, APD field offices, District Offices, and SSA.
  • Work closely to problem-solve methods for eliminating case errors and make recommendations to field office managers for improving efficiency.
  • Ensure staff maintains positive public relations with applicants, elected representatives, and the public. Independently resolves all types of public relations issues.
Working conditions
  • Hybrid work optional of half time of 20 hours per week in office and remote work.
  • This position may require occasional overnight travel throughout the state providing training, consultation, and review.
  • Hours of work may fluctuate based on service needs. Occasional overtime may be required, including evening and weekend work.
  • You may interact with a wide range of people including some who have experienced trauma and exhibit challenges in controlling their emotions.
  • Responsible for technical staff who have constant exposure to high-volume workload, demanding a high level of accuracy with short deadlines. Workload affects a vulnerable consumer population in need of monetary and medical assistance.
