Position Summary: Senior NPI Engineer

Location: Hamden, CT

Amphenol High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market (Mobile Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our products help to enable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEMs globally. Our global headquarters is located in Nashua, NH and we have design, sales and manufacturing locations globally. We are currently seeking a Senior NPI Engineer to join our team at Amphenol Spectra-Strip in Hamden, CT.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate design reviews and participate in design verification processes
  • Ensure technical cross-functional coordination (design and mechanical integrity, signal integrity, quality, process engineering, supply chain) to establish alignment on overall NPI progress with focus on achieving product compliance, failure analysis, and yield improvement activities
  • Ensure the creation and maintenance of detailed documentation, including but not limited to product configuration and compliance database, production deployment documents, work instructions, process flows
  • Analyze, review, and present test data to ensure products meet performance
  • Address issues identified during testing with product development engineering team
  • Prepare product documentation to verify that products meet required quality standards before mass production
  • Collaborate with global Spectra Strip engineering teams in Shanghai, China and Mexicali, Mexico in streamlining activities, capturing best practices, and global execution of projects that benefit Spectra Strip’s overall NPI process
  • Prepare and present technical reports and updates to engineering management team
  • Perform execution of relevant testing of bulk wire during NPI phase
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions
  • Promote lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies within the team
  • Ensure training for production staff on new processes and technologies related to high-speed products
  • Oversee the development and execution of test plans for high-speed products during the NPI phase

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent education/work experience
  • 5+ years of experience with new product development and introduction to volume manufacturing
  • Strong and hands on design / lab / debugging experience.
  • Ability to communicate with internal and external technical & non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to work in dynamic team environment.
  • Manufacturing / production experience is a plus
  • Project engineering management mindset / experience a plus
