Job Description
The primary duty of the process engineer is to develop, evaluate and improve the manufactured products and methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, assemble processes, tooling, production equipment capabilities and quality control standards. The process engineer shall have experience in several areas: tool design, fixture design, material handling, inspection and test equipment, lean manufacturing, safety and ergonomics, and machining equipment.
Main Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize assembly processes for wind tower components, ensuring efficiency and quality standards are met.
- Collaborate with design engineers to ensure manufacturability of wind tower components and assemblies.
- Design and implement manufacturing processes, including layout, equipment selection, and workflow optimization.
- Conduct time and motion studies to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to increase productivity.
- Troubleshoot assembly issues and implement corrective actions to resolve production problems.
- Develop and maintain assembly documentation, including work instructions, process flowcharts, and quality control plans.
- Evaluate and select suppliers for components and equipment, negotiating contracts and ensuring compliance with specifications.
- Provide technical support to production teams, including training and troubleshooting assistance.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize assembly processes.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in the assembly area.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Proven experience in process engineering or manufacturing engineering, preferably in the wind energy industry.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment used in metal fabrication and assembly.
- Proficiency in CAD software for designing assembly layouts and process flowcharts.
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex issues and develop effective solutions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations relevant to manufacturing operations.
- Willingness to travel to supplier facilities or other company locations as needed.

- WORKING CONDITIONS: No major exposure to risk or physical injury on the job.
