Position Summary
This role will be responsible for overseeing quality, customer service, inventory, finished goods production, material planning, cost control, cost reduction, and vendor relations with our Contract Manufacturing Partners.
The position requires effective project management for key business growth and productivity improvement initiatives. You will develop and maintain business relationships with Contract Manufacturers who produce at Alamance Foods and for Alamance Foods.
As a key leader, you will oversee operational performance across quality, food safety, regulatory compliance, customer service, and cost objectives. You will act as the main liaison between Contract Manufacturers and functional departments within Alamance Foods to ensure efficient resource use and priority alignment across Marketing, R&D, Manufacturing, and Product Supply.
Responsibilities
Product Commercialization:
- Lead projects to ensure production specifications are established and achieved from project planning through to execution.
- Drive key manufacturing initiatives, including new product introductions and facility rationalization.
Ongoing Maintenance:
- Establish and report KPIs for Contract Manufacturers on quality, food safety, customer service, and financial performance.
- Develop and execute performance improvement strategies.
- Conduct regular operational improvement reviews with Contract Manufacturers to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
Continuous Improvement:
- Act as the primary point for achieving operational savings at Contract Manufacturing facilities.
- Resolve urgent business issues (e.g., recalls, inventory discrepancies) quickly and effectively.
- Benchmark industry practices to integrate new technology and productivity strategies.
Capital Management:
- Engage with business partners to establish a cohesive communication flow across functional teams.
- Support short- and long-term capital strategy planning, ensuring alignment with Alamance Foods’ business goals.
Collaboration:
- Partner with Operations, Procurement, Marketing, R&D, Quality, and Logistics to align manufacturing strategies with company objectives.
- Work closely with Procurement to support capacity and manufacturing strategies that align with market demands.
Travel Expectations:
- This role requires regular travel (approximately 15-30%) based on project needs, which may include international trips.
Qualifications, Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of 5 years in plant operations, engineering, supply chain, distribution, or procurement.
- Strong communication, analytical, and management skills to lead a diverse team.
- Expertise in project and group management, continuous improvement, and negotiation.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities with a commitment to continuous learning.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and PowerBI.
