Manus Bio is a next-generation industrial biotechnology company headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts that produces plant-based ingredients. We use a variety of patented and proprietary technologies to engineer microbes for the production of specialty chemicals, such as food ingredients, agricultural chemicals, and pharmaceuticals. We are seeking a highly motivated Millwright to maintain equipment within the manufacturer operating specifications, support production, quality, and follow environmental guidelines and safety protocols in relation to the equipment. This hands-on position requires a desire and ability to work as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team, as well as the demonstration of a high degree of flexibility, creativity, and initiative applied to the various duties and aspects of the position. This person will be expected to play an integral part of Manus Bio’s team located in Augusta, GA.

Responsibilities:
- Analyzes mechanical and operational problems on equipment. Takes necessary corrective actions to maintain equipment within proper operating specifications.
- Examines, tests and measures equipment for normal operation using gauges, instruments and records data on appropriate forms.
- Make preventive maintenance checks and inspections of equipment, reports findings to supervisor/team. Completes appropriate documentation and develops a follow up action plan if required.
- Participates and attends required training. Assists in training of new employees and the re-training of existing employees in the work area of responsibility.
- Inspects new and used parts to determine proper tolerance, wear patterns, etc., using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
- Makes repairs as necessary to maintain equipment per manufacturer specifications using hand tools and power tools. Must be able to operate hand tools in a safe and efficient manner.
- Operates lathe, drill press, grinder and other metalworking tools as required to make or repair parts.
Position Qualifications:
Education/Learning Experience
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 3 years of experience in the field of mechanical maintenance.
Desired:
- Completion of a 2-year degree in a related field from an accredited technical school preferred.
Work Experience
Required:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing maintenance environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of safety, health environmental, and quality systems.
Desired:
- Demonstrated ability to weld.
- Ability to troubleshoot using a model.
Skills/Knowledge
Required:
- Demonstrated ability to interact with facility employees, corporate personnel and with outside vendors and customers.

Required Qualifications:
- Must have computer skills that would enable them to create workorders, word documents and order parts through SAP
- Is able to operate within a team-based environment, willing to participate in team activities, serve in Leadership roles, and be receptive to receiving and giving constructive feedback to their team members and management.
- Must be able to follow detailed instructions as well as work in a safe and responsible manner.
- Good at adhering to strict safety guidelines and cognizant of safety risks
- Mechanical aptitude in dealing with wrenches, hammers, forklifts, and other similar tools
- Working knowledge of mechanical technical skills to allow them to effectively read documents such as specifications, machine manuals, and blueprints
- Proficient in troubleshooting techniques to solve machine issues
- Ability to be a team player due to constant interactions with similar employees and stakeholders such as Engineers, Plant Managers, and Part Vendors, amongst others
- Requires effective time management skills, personal conduct, and change management abilities.
- Ability to effectively interact with co-workers, vendors, contractors and other business contacts.

Work Environment:
- Work is performed in an office and uncontrolled atmosphere. Exposure to harsh conditions—such as: dust, fumes, chemicals, hazardous materials, noise, and varying weather and temperatures—for short periods of time is possible. All employees are required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas.
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and talk and hear. Ability to lift and carry 10 lbs. on a regular basis is required.
Resource Conservation and Recovery Act:
Maintenance Mechanics have the potential to handle and generate the following RCRA hazardous waste streams:
- Fluorescent mercury tubes.
- Aerosol cans.
- Hologenated spent lubricants
- Spent solvents.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in cGMP environments.
- Experience in biochemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, energy, oil and gas industries is preferred.
