Technical Sales – Southeast United States
Job Overview
Quick Tie Products, Inc. (“QuickTie”) is a quickly growing manufacturer servicing the building materials products industry. We manufacture and distribute a proprietary hold-down system for wood frame and masonry construction, as well as other related framing products.
We are looking for a seasoned technical sales professional to engage design and building professionals, and builders and general contractors (single-family and multi-family), to specify our products on their plans.
To qualify, you will be able to demonstrate a successful track record of influencing product specifier decision makers (i.e., architects and structural engineers) to choose particular products on construction plans. Ideally, you will bring substantial relationships with these folks with you. You will also have prior experience with building officials and inspectors.
This role is a high-level, sales-focused specialist that works independently and as part of a team, providing expertise to internal and external customers. This is a very important position for our company, and we’re excited to welcome the right new teammate on board!
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop and execute a strategic plan to achieve increased levels of QuickTie brand recognition, acceptance and specification.
Work with sales and engineering teams – and current and prospective customers – to expand market share through:
- Exclusive and approved substitute specifications on product merit alone
- Contractor and/or builder-led efforts for exclusive and approved substitute specifications
- Landing new accounts and launching new products
Prepare and give technical presentations and CEU seminars.
Work closely with our marketing department; contribute to creation of material and content relevant to specifying professional conversion efforts.
How You Will Spend Your time (as a %, roughly):
- Proactively and reactively, engage with internal and external customers on all matters relative to the overriding goal of increasing QuickTie specification on structural plans. This will take the form of travel, physical sales calls on customers and specifiers, phone conferences, video conferences, emails and attendance at trade shows (60%).
- Conduct technical presentations and workshops. You will own these A-Z with minimal assistance from headquarters (scheduling, promotion, set-up, creating content and giving presentations, take-down). (20%)
- Provide jobsite support as necessary by, for example, attending pre-framing meetings and performing site visits. (10%)
- Work with marketing and R&D / product management on marketing campaigns and content, and new product launches. (5%)
- Miscellaneous (including but not limited to, consistent CRM use, scheduling, administrative submitting “stuff” like submitting expense reports, and other duties as assigned. (5%)
Qualifications:
- Knowledge: deep knowledge of wood frame construction and jobsite etiquette
- Experience: +/- 5 years Business to Business (B2B) sales management experience in construction related industry
- Skills: excellent communication, negotiation, teamwork, presentation and leadership skills; proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, ACAD or Revit and design software
- Driving record: Possess and maintain a clean driving record
- Travel: ability and desire to travel overnight between 25% and 75% of working days
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction or related field required
- Professional Engineering (PE) license and structural degree preferred; a minor or certification in a business discipline or an MBA is a plus
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, see, talk, and hear, and the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs.
This job operates in both professional office environments, outdoor construction job sites and convention centers. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers/scanners, etc. The employee occasionally works around moving mechanical parts. Noise level may be loud at times.
This full-time, exempt position is open to remote, but (a) must be located in the Southeast United States or (b) very close to an airport hub with regular flights to and from major metropolitan areas in the Southeast.
Relocation assistance is available for this position, but we do not currently sponsor non-US Citizens for this position.
Pay & Benefits:
- $85,000 - $125,000 / year all-in (base + incentive compensation), commensurate with experience.
