What You’ll Do
As a Junior Data Science Engineer, you will play an integral part of our data engineering team, responsible for supporting the development, maintenance, and optimization of our data infrastructure.
This role offers a unique opportunity to grow your technical skills and gain hands-on experience with modern data engineering tools and methodologies in a collaborative and dynamic environment.
- Assist in designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines to process, clean, and integrate data from various sources.
- Implement data transformation and processing tasks using ETL tools and scripting languages.
- Support the maintenance and optimization of our data warehouse and data lakes.
- Monitor data pipeline performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions.
- Provide support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users and team members.
About the Role: This is an independent contractor position, and you will not be on Grand & Toy’s payroll. This is a perfect opportunity for someone who is looking for full-time working hours as an independent contractor.
Location: Our head office is in Vaughan, ON. We work from the office 3 days per week. Always Tues and Thurs.
Education Requirements: Post-secondary education in Computer Science or Mathematics preferred.
Work Experience:
- Strong knowledge in ETL processes, SSIS etc.
- Strong knowledge of SQL
- Knowledge of Python is preferred
- Strong knowledge and experience with relational database design and development
- Possesses strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail and accuracy
Technology:
- Relational databases
- Development experience with SQL
- Experience with cloud-based applications and environments.
- Familiar with Data Warehousing concepts and design approaches.
- Knowledge of Python is preferred.
Information Systems:
- SQL Server and Snowflake
- Microsoft SQL
- BI Technologies such as Analysis Services, Reporting Services, PowerBI Server or similar
- Microsoft Office 365 BI Tools and integrations
