Business Development Director (East Coast)
Industry-leading company providing optimized drug development and manufacturing services for clients, from discovery to clinical. Their science-driven approach utilizes predictive design tools, novel chemistry, analytical tools, enabling delivery technologies, and a thorough knowledge of quality and regulatory requirements to guide our customers on their clinical development path. They utilize a range of novel technologies and pharmaceutical manufacturing operations to overcome drug development challenges for both small and large molecules, including complex granulations, spray-dried dispersions, hot melt extrudates, IR and MR tablet technologies, multiarticulate, and engineered particles inhalation.
Our client is seeking a highly motivated business development manager/director to join its rapidly growing commercial team. The successful candidate will identify, develop, and nurture strategic new business relationships, identify and nurture prospects accounts and leads, and pursue business opportunities with the aim of growing our client's business. The position requires excellent technical and business understanding of CDMO (Contract Development Manufacturing Organization) drug product services, and ability to articulate our client's value proposition to customers. Other duties include managing existing accounts, drafting proposals, and keeping commercial business systems up to date.
Successful candidates may be remote but will require frequent travel to Bend, Oregon.

Duties and Responsibilities
Generate new leads and opportunities leveraging our client's and the incumbents' network
Build solid, trusting, and measurable relationships with clients and companies while developing a complete understanding of client needs
Participate in client visits, regional and national trade shows, and conferences as required
Manage both existing pipeline and new business opportunities
Manage communications between customer and internal teams and assist with management of team activities assigned to each of your customers
Work with various internal stakeholders (e.g., Executive, Tech Ops, Project Mgmt., etc.) to build client relationships and improve customer results
Contribute to the development of proposals and presentations for new business development materials
Adeptly present capabilities and value proposition to new clients
Negotiate agreements as part of a team with BD, corporate, and legal leadership, including CDAs, MSAs, and commercial supply agreements
Resolve client issues, complaints and anticipate key account improvements by way of project management guidance and outreach
Identify market trends and customer needs, building a short/medium/long-term sales pipeline in accordance with targets
Participate in site management team and planning meetings, including setting objectives and strategies as well as take accountability for implementation and results
Support the broader BD team in developing new service offerings and analyzing market trends
Assist in the coordination and implementation of marketing strategies, and delegate tasks that achieve strategic goals

Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Science or Engineering required; Graduate degree preferred
The BD Director needs to come with a rolodex that they are ready to engage with.
5-10+ years pharmaceutical drug product development experience with preference is given to candidates that have at least 2 years working in a client-facing capacity
Track record of technical leadership, including technical conference and client presentations
Experience in a Sales/Business Development role is preferred, but not required
Candidates with a technical background and a desire to move into commercial role are encouraged to apply

Approximately 25% travel required, and at times > 50% may be required
