Job Description

Energy storage is the most exciting area in energy today. Massive amounts of energy storage are required if renewable energy is to take its rightful place on the electric grid. Invinity provides an alternative to the most common type of battery, lithium-ion because the battery technology that works so well in our pockets doesn’t work as well at the grid scale; it wears out, limits use, and even catches fire.

Manufactured as a standardized product in a factory, Invinity’s vanadium flow batteries don’t degrade, won’t catch fire, and can be operated continuously from full charge to full discharge for 25 years. Invinity has 75,000 kilowatt-hours of its modular battery systems in 82 projects across 15 countries - more than any other company in the space. We’ve deployed the largest flow battery systems in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and the UK, and are supported by the UK Infrastructure Bank, the U.S. Department of Energy, and some of the world’s leading institutional investors.

A compelling product and recent funding put Invinity in a position to grow dramatically as it addresses the global imperative for stationary energy storage. Join us as we help transform renewable energy into a stable and dependable contributor to the transition to net zero.

Invinity has operations in the UK, Canada, the U.S., and Australia and trades publicly in the UK on AIM and AQSE and in the U.S. on OTCQX. For more information about us visit our webpage.

The Vice President of Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) is a newly created senior leadership role, designed to elevate and embed a culture of excellence in quality and safety across the organization. In this role, you will champion quality standards essential to our manufacturing processes, ensure compliance with diverse safety regulations across jurisdictions, and uphold the environmental commitments expected by our stakeholders.

Your expertise in quality and safety protocols is a given, but your true impact will come from embedding QHSE principles into our company culture. You’ll inspire and empower teams at all levels to embrace quality and safety as core values that drive everything we do. This role is for a strategic leader who understands that fostering a culture of QHSE isn’t just about policies—it’s about creating an environment where every employee lives and breathes these principles every day.

Responsibilities:

  • Embed a Culture of QHSE: Lead the charge in establishing a culture where Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) are integral to every aspect of our work. Ensure QHSE principles are embraced by all employees as part of their daily responsibilities.
  • Champion QHSE Initiatives: Act as the primary advocate for QHSE, inspiring a positive and proactive approach to safety, quality, and environmental considerations across the organization. Engage employees at all levels in meaningful discussions to foster a committed, safety-conscious work environment.
  • Strategize and Direct QHSE Policies: Plan, develop, and implement QHSE policies, programs, and initiatives that align with industry standards and drive compliance throughout the business.
  • Train and Mentor in QHSE Excellence: Provide guidance, training, and coaching to ensure compliance with QHSE regulations and industry best practices, building a knowledgeable and capable team.
  • Ensure Regulatory and Standards Compliance: Oversee compliance with QHSE standards, including ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001, as well as relevant industry and customer requirements such as UL and CE standards.
  • Enhance Internal QHSE Processes: Support teams in developing and refining internal processes to meet QHSE objectives, continuously improving operational quality and safety standards.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Implement robust systems for communication, containment, root-cause analysis, corrective action, and continuous improvement to prevent and address QHSE deficiencies.
  • Lead QHSE Audits and Inquiries: Serve as the main point of contact for QHSE activities, coordinating internal and external audits, and managing client inquiries related to QHSE practices.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in a relevant technical discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience that equips you for success in this role.
  • 15 + years of hands-on experience in implementing and leading Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) initiatives within a multi-site organization, specifically in the manufacturing of electro-mechanical products.
  • Possession of QHSE Management and Lead Quality and/or Safety Auditor Certification.
  • Demonstrated experience leading ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 certification processes within a multi-site manufacturing environment.
  • 10+ years of experience in quality management for New Product Introduction (NPI) projects or programs, alongside a track record of developing and implementing programs to enhance supplier quality, including methodologies such as APQP and PPAP.
  • Proven success in managing, interacting with, and negotiating with customers and industry regulators regarding QHSE matters.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with a talent for engaging and inspiring employees to participate in QHSE initiatives interactively.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required, with travel not expected to exceed 10-20% of the year.
At Invinity Energy Systems, we are dedicated to providing equal employment opportunities to all individuals and practicing wage transparency to ensure fairness and equity. The salary for this position ranges from $190,000 to $220,000 and will be determined by a combination of the interview process, prior work experience, and educational background.
If you are great at what you do, willing to engage with our collaborative culture, and motivated by making a difference in the world, consider joining us. Invinity Energy Systems is small enough that every team member plays a critical role in our daily business, but large enough to participate in landmark clean energy projects around the world.
