Job Description
Senior Buyer is responsible for preparing and processing purchasing orders for materials, supplies, and equipment. This individual will be responsible for locating the most cost-effective solution for the quality and delivery requirements for each item/service. This position reports to the Purchasing Manager.
Responsibilities include:
· Negotiates buying terms with vendors, including price, delivery, and payment terms.
· Requests vendor quotes and generates the purchase order.
· Monitors project budgets when sourcing materials, supplies, and equipment.
· Tracks all open orders until received while keeping all stakeholders apprised of the progress of the order.
· Maintains an efficient and accurate system for monitoring all open purchase orders.
· Obtains price quotes as required for sales, operations, and management.
· Works with shipping and receiving to ensure that all deliveries satisfy the assigned purchase orders and report any back-ordered or missing products.
· Manages project purchasing schedule to ensure materials are ordered in time to meet project delivery requirements while minimizing on-hand and obsolete inventory.
· Helps to define and manage safety stock levels of inventory and parts supplies to support operations.
· Establishes and maintains reliable lines of contact with stakeholders to ensure that all purchase orders are accurate.
· Continually searches for new suppliers to minimize cost while ensuring customer satisfaction.
· Maintains good relationships with key suppliers.
Qualifications and Skills:
· Knowledge of purchasing raw materials for manufacturing.
· Knowledge of reading detailed drawings to develop bill of materials.
· Must be detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills.
· Strong computer skills and use of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, Word).
· Experience using System Applications and Products (SAP), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), or similar type of software.
· 3-5 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing industry.
· Bachelor’s degree preferred.
