The Ministry of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation (JEDI) helps build an inclusive, sustainable, and innovative economy that works for everyone. The ministry is accountable for the implementation of StrongerBC, a guide to economic prosperity through inclusive and clean growth. The ministry also supports First Nations and Indigenous peoples, small businesses and communities with economic development activities, economic diversification, job creation and strategic investments to ensure everyone in British Columbia benefits from economic growth.
The Trade, Investment and Corporate Initiatives (TICI) Division facilitates trade and investment in strategic sectors across the province. It oversees B.C.’s international network of trade and investment representatives, and provides programming in export services, investor services, missions and events and real-time market intelligence. It promotes B.C. internationally as an investment destination and source of high-quality goods and services. It promotes trade agreements and advises on trade implications of all proposed government measures, policies, negotiations and dispute. TICI delivers the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Center of Excellence in British Columbia, leads strategic cross government projects on behalf of JEDI and supports the Minister of State for Trade.
The Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM), Trade, Investment and Corporate Initiatives provides strategic oversight and assists B.C. companies, foreign buyers/investors, and other stakeholders with their international business. The ADM also oversees the provision of programming in export services; investor services, missions and events; real-time market intelligence. They promote trade agreements and advise on trade implications of all proposed government measures/policies/negotiations/disputes, as well as supporting the Minister of State for Trade.
The ideal candidate will be a results-oriented, seasoned professional who has developed strong business acumen through a series of progressively more responsible positions. Now an experienced executive, they have demonstrated success in a business, economic, or international market that contributes to the strategic objectives of a large organization.
This excellent candidate will bring with them superior communication and negotiation skills, having successfully led their organization through politically sensitive change and initiative with numerous lines of business and diverse clientele. A proven leader and natural innovator, they have used their substantial problem-solving skills in building relationships across the public sector. They promote accountability, engender trust, and model the highest level of integrity in all situations.
