Position Overview:
The Business Development Manager is a critical driver of company growth, responsible for securing new business and expanding relationships with existing customers. This individual identifies high-value opportunities and works closely with cross-functional teams to deliver tailored solutions. They represent the companys full range of products and services, focusing on the unique selling propositions of vertical integration.
Knowledge Skills Abilities
- Education: Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, economics, communication, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Experience: At least 5+ years in a business development or sales leadership role, with a successful track record of revenue growth in complex environments.
- Technology: Proficient in CRM systems (Salesforce, etc.), Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint), and data analysis tools. Ability to leverage digital platforms for client engagement and sales tracking.
- Sales Expertise: Proven ability to meet or exceed sales targets. Demonstrated success in closing complex deals with C-level executives or other senior decision-makers.
- Negotiation & Influence: Strong negotiation skills, capable of driving mutually beneficial agreements while maintaining long-term customer relationships.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to conceptualize, design, and implement innovative sales strategies that align with broader business goals.
- Interpersonal & Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present to diverse audiences, from technical teams to executives. Must possess the charisma and professionalism to build rapport quickly.
- Technical Manufacturing: Understanding of manufacturing processes, supply chain management, and technical aspects of packaging solutions. Ability to translate technical benefits into business value for customers.
Primary Responsibilities:
- New Business Acquisition: Develop and execute strategies to penetrate new markets, identify potential clients, and close deals. Build and expand a personal network of contacts to generate new leads and business.
- Client Relationship Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for key customers, fostering long-term relationships and trust. Anticipate client needs and offer customized solutions that leverage the company's full spectrum of capabilities, from packaging design to production processes.
- Sales Strategy & Execution: Formulate and implement comprehensive sales plans. Set realistic and aggressive targets for revenue, prospecting, and lead conversion. Monitor market trends and competitor activities to refine sales approaches.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams (product, marketing, engineering, etc.) to develop and propose solutions that meet customer needs. Collaborate on the creation of sales presentations, demonstrations, and proposals.
- Market Intelligence: Stay current on industry trends, technological advancements, and market dynamics that impact clients businesses. Provide clients with strategic insights to address their pain points and capitalize on growth opportunities.
- Sales Reporting & Forecasting: Accurately log activities, opportunities, and deals in CRM systems. Track sales pipeline, forecast future sales, and prepare detailed sales reports for upper management.
Miscellaneous:
- Travel: Approximately 50% travel required for client visits, industry events, and trade shows.
- Tools Provided: Company-issued laptop and smartphone for remote work and client management.
KPIs:
- Revenue Growth: Achieve or exceed assigned revenue targets through new client acquisition and growth of existing accounts.
- Customer Engagement: Maintain a healthy pipeline of prospective clients and increase the number of client touchpoints.
- CRM Utilization: Daily updates and usage of CRM to track progress and ensure data accuracy.
- Client Retention & Satisfaction: High client satisfaction scores, reflected in retention rates and repeat business.
