Job Description
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Distribution and Material Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the timely distribution of materials to our customer base.
Normal Hours:2:30pm-11:30pm (Monday – Friday) (Work on weekends as needed)
Pay: $85k - $105k and 5% bonus. No overtime payment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Utilize customer demand in ERP system (PLEX) to create daily and weekly shipping plans.
- Publish customer production and downtime plans.
- Review and manage inventory audits.
- Demonstrate advanced skills in distribution.
- Simplify complex supply chain concepts through continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of inventory management principles, including working capital and inventory turn metrics.
- Develop, maintain, and report metrics for schedule attainment and customer on-time delivery.
- Collaborate closely with the Production Manager to provide timely updates on customer shipments.
- Manage distribution and inventory staff, including planners and material control roles.
- Ensure compliance with the Company’s Code of Conduct and ethics.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including sales, operations, engineering, quality, and purchasing.
- Complete performance reviews, manage attendance, and handle disciplinary procedures.
- Translate strategy into specific annual goals and departmental objectives.
CORE REQUIREMENTS:
- Expert knowledge of technical regulations and legislation.
- Familiarity with customer portals (Ford, GM, & Stellantis).
- Experience working with unions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and MRP systems.
- Knowledge of raw materials, goods distribution, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with lean techniques preferred.
- 5+ years in a key leadership role in automotive manufacturing.
- Previous experience managing planners, schedulers, analysts, and logistics.
- Strong leadership, management, and business acumen.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, operations management, logistics, supply chain, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of distribution experience preferred.
- APICS certification and Master Scheduling and LEAN Manufacturing experience preferred.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Directly supervise 4-5 team members.
IATF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain job descriptions for salary team members.
- Coordinate training for salary team members and support hourly team training.
