What you will be doing!
- Performing engineering analysis on energy technologies and chemical processes.
- Identifying, quantifying and assessing various hydrogen and clean energy technologies to understand the different characteristics to be used in design of conceptual systems and infrastructure.
- Performing technology, cost, environmental and sustainability assessments on various technologies concerned with hydrogen and hydrogen-based fuels for internal and external customers.
- Developing, adhering to CNL software quality assurance principles, validated process models in commercial software and process calculations in spreadsheets or other programming platforms.
- Developing conceptual process and systems integration using process models, engineering analysis or simulation software, to produce, store, distribute and supply hydrogen made from water, and produce ammonia, methanol, syngas, and renewable natural gas.
- Analyzing results and composing technical reports on conceptual systems and integrated infrastructure for hydrogen and clean energy applications in the transport, energy and industrial sectors.
- Performing techno-economic feasibility studies; front-end engineering design (FEED) studies; review of regulations, codes and standards; and technology readiness evaluations, for customers in the application of hydrogen-based technologies to plan for decarbonizing the customer facilities.
- Performing verification of engineering and process calculations in models.
- Preparing and presenting findings from project activities to internal and external team members as well as at conferences and stakeholder engagements.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
- Education: Doctoral degree in chemical or mechanical engineering from a university of recognized standing.
- Experience: Previous experience in applied research in an industrial, institutional or academic setting, is desirable.
- Experience with large-scale systems such as infrastructure for electricity generation, fuels and chemicals supply, and clean energy systems considered an asset.
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required: Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
