Title and Authority
Job Title: Territory Sales Representative
Reporting Structure: This role reports directly to ELRUS’s Equipment Sales Manager. This role has no supervisory or managerial authority and no direct reports.
General Description of the Role
The Territory Sales Representative is a versatile individual who thrives in a competitive relationship-based sales environment. The ideal candidate is an aggressive, consistent, organized, and self-motivated technical sales professional who will build strong customer relationships and acquire new customers by generating interest and demand for ELRUS products within the assigned geography. This position will promote and represent ELRUS positively and professionally within the community and industry to all customer, competitors, and industry associates.
Role Accountabilities
- Build and implement a customized territory sales plan, managing existing customer base and cold-calling prospects to grow the business.
- Assist in developing and achieving sales targets on a consistent basis with any limitations being quickly and effectively communicated to the sales manager.
- Track qualified sales leads and leverage marketing support to turn prospects into clients.
- Initiate and lead the sales process as a subject-matter expert and act as the customer’s key contact and resource.
- Build strong business relationships with customers and prospects and manage the sales funnel by continually following up on customers’ current business needs and anticipating future needs while understanding the market conditions and competitor pricing.
- Quote and close deals using approved commercial processes and resources; ensure always that necessary approvals are in hand.
- Analyze market trends to identify data-driven growth opportunities.
- Ensure proper use of company resources involved with selling, including the CRM, ERP, entertainment expenses, and intellectual property.
Specific Tasks
- While driving a company-owned vehicle, organize and plan daily sales routes to maximize productivity and identify prospects by utilizing creative lead-generation techniques.
- Meet regularly with existing customers and prospects while conducting business in a professional manner.
- Prepare and confidently present sales proposals, including pricing and product/service terms, to key decision makers. Influence, negotiate, and close the sale with the best interest of ELRUS and the customer in mind.
- Travel within sales territory to educate customers on how ELRUS products can benefit them.
- Respond to customer product inquiries.
- Attend Teams meetings, sales events, and training to keep abreast of industry and competitor trends and market activities.
- Ensure all communication with new or existing customers is logged into the CRM system.
- Maintain ongoing product development training.
- Periodically measure and review results against plans with management (monthly, quarterly, yearly).
- Be a customer service leader who is closely involved in reviewing delivery issues, product issues, and in managing follow-up.
- Complete all required reporting in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with company policy.
Skills and Experience
Required skills and attributes - you are:
- Someone who can sell and is comfortable selling.
- Outgoing; extraverted.
- Able to leverage your knowledge of products, markets, and a customer’s business to develop current accounts.
- Someone who values excellent customer service, and who promotes that value in others.
- Someone with excellent forecasting skills.
- Fluent in English.
- A good communicator, both verbally and in writing.
- Organized and possess strong time management skills.
- Proficient with computers generally and the Microsoft Office suite of products, in particular.
- Able to work effectively and productively without close supervision.
Desirable skills - you may:
- Already possess general product knowledge involving aggregate crushing products.
Required experience/qualifications - you have:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years of relevant sales experience.
- A valid driver’s license.
- A clear driving record.
Desirable experience/qualifications - you may have:
- A college or university diploma/degree, or other post-secondary qualifications.
- Experience using a CRM.
- Worked in a manufacturing industry.
- Good industry contacts.
Other:
- This position requires a valid passport.
- This position requires overnight business travel.
- This position may require occasional after-hours support to customers.
