Senior Product Development & Applications Manager, Remote, Canada

Arclin USA is currently seeking talent for an open Senior Product Development & Applications Manager position. Reporting to the Vice President of Research and Development, this position will be responsible for Product Development and Applications Technology for construction and specialty products. This role has direct contact with Arclin Technical Sales and Manufacturing. The role is considered the expert in the field and must have intimate knowledge of customer processes and applications as well as Arclin process capabilities. This role coordinates with Sales to assure development projects meet the needs of the related Business objectives. This role also provides the broad Technical Service in conjunction with the Technical Sales representative for the segment.

Senior Product Development & Applications Manager Job Responsibilities:

Applies creative thinking to new situations/opportunities while balancing creativity with practicality to achieve proper product design. Specifically, for the oriented strand board & I-Joist market application.
Demonstrates initiative and provides ideas and solutions for new and improved products; contributes to project teams utilizing Arclin project management methodologies
Provide set-up and implementation of laboratory studies related to strategic projects; follow through with internal production trial plans, requests and trials. Including, pilot treater operations.
Attend customer trials to provide technical guidance for proper use and application of Arclin products. Identify potential improvements to the customers’ processes and their short and long-term needs
Demonstrates initiative and provides ideas and solutions for new and improved products. Contributes to project teams utilizing Arclin project management methodologies
Performs work in compliance with all Arclin policies and procedures including HSE and regulatory requirements
Achieves personal objectives on time, on budget, within agreed quality and quantity parameters
Informs Manager of roadblocks, including suggested options for resolution, before task or project milestones are compromised.

Senior Product Development & Applications Manager Job Requirements:

Bachelor of Science degree in Wood Science, Chemistry, or equivalent experience is necessary
Minimum 5 years’ experience in construction, specialty products, related wood products or laminating industry in a R&D, technical service or manufacturing function
Knowledge of specialty products and their manufacturing processes.
Well-developed analytical and problem solving skills and ability to make quick decisions
Knowledge of Arclin’s and relevant competitor/industries manufacturing process and products.
Well-developed communication skills (oral and written) to interact effectively with customers, R&T, Sales and Marketing and Manufacturing.
Working knowledge of Microsoft office applications i.e. word, excel.
Must be self-starting and have the ability to work with minimum supervision
Ability to travel up to 50%
Exposure to heavy industrial plants and harsh industrial conditions such as dust, noise and chemicals
