Job Description

As a thriving auction company since 1960, we have been busy selling everything from combines & tractors to tillable farm acreage, hay, and livestock. We also sell an array of assets including construction equipment, large estates, business holdings, and more! From that time forward, the company has experienced a continued growth pattern & an expansion of offered services.

The Sales Representative at Steffes Group, Inc. will be based out of our Litchfield, MN site while living in & covering the southeast Minnesota auction territory. This person will play an integral role in generating leads through sales and marketing efforts, including attracting consignors, negotiating & booking auctions, managing existing & future contracts, and generating bidders & buyers to our Steffes Group, Inc. auctions. This person will report directly to the Director of Agriculture.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Groom & cultivate a network of relationships with bankers, farmers, agricultural equipment dealerships, seed salesmen, crop insurance agents, attorneys, rural appraisers, and any other ag-related industry officials
  • Maintain involvement in organizations & associations that will further align you with previously stated industry individuals
  • Assist other Steffes Group, Inc. sales team members with auctions booked as needed
  • Travel to auction sites to take photos of upcoming auction equipment & land auctions, while working closely with sellers in a professional & courteous manner
  • Work with the administrative team to post auction equipment & land online at appropriate times, writing a detailed description outlining all key information to potential buyers
  • Work closely with Steffes Group team to ensure a smooth auction process, from start to finish

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Vast knowledge of a variety of agricultural equipment and farm real estate is required
  • Background in agriculture & previous business experience is strongly preferred
  • Previous leadership experience is also strongly preferred
  • General knowledge of auction processes & procedures is a bonus
  • Fluent with Microsoft Office products

  • Ability to multi-task with deadline-oriented focus
  • Engaging personality, with ability to create strong working relationships with professionals in a vast variety of fields
