Job Description


For the purposes of this position, the working title will be Program Specialist. This position supports Career and Technical Education (CTE) educators in Florida, most notably through assisting in the management of projects aimed at advancing evidence-based educational practices. Central aspects of the position include grant management, coordination of stakeholders relevant to projects, and research and planning related to the support of initiatives that advance the mission of the Office of Career and Technical Education.


Duties and Responsibilities

(Note: The omission of specific job duties does not preclude management from assigning specific duties not listed herein if such duties are a logical assignment to the position.)

The Florida Department of Education (FDOE) has an open position that is responsible for executing the following functions:

  • The employee must be productive under tight timeframes, balance multiple and competing priorities and maintain goal-directed behavior and performance sometimes under stressful conditions.
  • The employee must interact courteously with others.
  • The employee’s performance and behavior must demonstrate consideration of the workload concerns of others and must not negatively affect productivity and morale of the unit.
  • Provides Technical Assistance to locale recipients to implement and carry out programs, services and activities related to Career and Technical Education.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of CTE grants to include but not limited to Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) and provides operational support to team members within the Office of CTE and the Bureau.
  • Manage projects, conduct research; review, evaluate and analyze statistical data, proposals, and administrative reports.
  • Prepares summaries, narrative analyses, and recommendations. Facilitate, coordinate, and troubleshoots project challenges to identify solutions.
  • Develops and implement the assigned project components; production, productivity, quality, and customer service standards; assess development; improve efficiency, workflow, and deliverables.
  • Ideates ways forward, and creates tools to accelerate productivity, speed, and accuracy. Executes and supports division projects, conducts research, analyzes stakeholder feedback and comprehensively disseminates findings to the CTE Director.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Attendance is an essential function of this position.

  • General understanding of career and technical education programs, careers, and pathways.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a team, take initiative and be self-directed, network and build business and industry partner relationships.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Professional.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Four to six years of professional experience working in career and technical education programs

LEAVE INFORMATION: (CS)

    • Annual Leave - All full-time Career Service employees filling established positions earn annual leave in varying increments dependent upon years of creditable service. Employees with up to 5 years of creditable service earn 8.667 hours per month, with 5 to 10 years earn 10.833 hours per month and those with over 10 years of service earn 13 hours per month.
    • Sick Leave -. Career Service employees earn 8.667 hours of sick leave credits per month.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT
