Key Responsibilities
Based out of our office in Aurora, Ontario, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Visiting customers to generate business, with an emphasis on outside sales and being on the road or on site approximately 80% of the work week.
- Identifying customer requirements through outreach, promoting and demonstrating products, and facilitating product delivery and training.
- Collaborating with customers to provide comprehensive solutions.
- Working closely with the sales team, including manufacturer personnel, to determine the best solutions for customer needs.
- Building and maintaining customer relationships, providing technical support, and proactively resolving potential customer issues.
- Developing new business through lead follow-ups, cold calls, and participation in industry trade shows.
- Providing customer feedback on technical issues, pricing, competitive products, and services.
- Utilizing a CRM system to record and track sales activities and report on industry trends and needs.
- Providing timely sales forecasts for planning purposes.
Qualifications
- Graduation from a technology institute with a mechanical discipline or equivalent industrial experience.
- At least three years of experience in selling engineered, mechanical products such as computer-controlled welding and cutting equipment, weld products, stationary/portable machine tools, hydraulic tools, or similar products.
- A valid driver’s license, a clean driver abstract, and reliable transportation for regular travel within the territory.
- A valid passport for potential international travel for sales and product training at manufacturer facilities.
Skills
- Demonstrated ability to analyze, problem-solve, close sales, and generate new sales opportunities.
- Independence and the ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues in order to achieve sales targets.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A disciplined work ethic, excellent time management, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in computer usage, including a good understanding of MS Office programs to communicate customer needs, prepare proposals, quotations, forecasts, and reports.
- Physical capabilities including the ability to lift 50 lbs., and climb stairs or ladders.
