Responsibilities

  • Plan, prioritize, and review fleet policies and vehicle maintenance.
  • Recommends discipline and manages driver related issues in conjunction with Construction Management
  • Establishes specific goals, objects, and policies for the management of the AFL CS’ vehicle fleet to include maintenance, cleanliness and safety
  • Monitor and analyze all opportunities to cut costs and improve efficiencies
  • Makes strategic short and long-term plans for fleet requirements.
  • Provide support to the construction’s team regarding all equipment and vehicle related issues.
  • Develops and coordinates training to the employees for all equipment and motor vehicle operations, maintenance and safety
  • Monitors vehicle gas consumption, maintenance, registrations, and accident costs
  • Selects vendors and appropriately maintains vendor relationships, which includes management of suppliers for fleet repair
  • Identify and monitor equipment sent to outside sources for repairs
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Adhere to and promote the environmental, health & safety policies of AFL.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge and Experience

  • 3-5 Years of experience in transportation or fleet industry in a similar role
  • Detailed oriented
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure
  • Ability to solve practical or complex problems where limited standardization exists
  • Ability to quickly adapt to the ever changing environment
  • Excellent communication in English, both written and verbal
  • Ability to travel to various site-based projects if required

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of NSC regulations and requirements
  • Knowledge of IFTA regulations and requirements
  • Light Truck, Medium Truck and Heavy Truck product knowledge preferred
  • Equipment Management knowledge
  • Insurance regulations and requirements across provinces in Canada
  • Keep up with industry trends
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, PowerPoint and Word

Working Conditions

  • Normal office environment
  • Some travel where required
  • General hours: Monday through Friday 8 hours per day – but must be flexible to meet operational needs
