Job Description
SUMMARY
The UX (User Experience) & Design Teacher will support the Design & Computer Science (CS) efforts within the Design & Innovation department teaching a variety of UX courses to Middle School and Upper School students. These courses may include web & app design, Introduction to CS, Consumer Research Design & Testing, Prototyping to Learn or Information Design for example. However, other courses may be structured around the candidate’s skill set.
This is a temporary, long-term substitute position.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teach up to four classes in Upper School and/or Middle School. The course load could include UX based CS classes such as HTML, Web & App development, Intro to CS, UX & Consumer Testing.
- In collaboration with the Design & Innovation team, develop and modify the Innovation and CS curriculum plan, offered courses, and student projects that support the Design & Innovation plan.
- Be a collaborative member of the Design & Innovation team and Greenhill School supporting the mission and vision of Greenhill
- Consistently embrace and exhibit a growth mindset.
- Collaborate across divisions and departments as needed.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in the field of UX. Design, computer science, engineering, or another Design or STEM-related field. (Significant work experience and project portfolio may be used in replace of degree.)
- Has taught at the middle school level or higher for at least 2 years (Work experience and demonstration of lesson planning and a teaching demonstration may be used in place of teaching experience.)
- Has in-depth knowledge of UX and Design principles, wireframing, prototyping tools etc.
- Has functional knowledge of relevant programming languages and is able to produce functioning products.
