Gator Bio is a venture backed biotech company located in Palo Alto, CA. We are creating innovative technologies to solve difficult problems facing today’s healthcare industries. We develop, manufacture and market instruments, biosensors, reagents, and consumables used by life science research for biotherapeutic characterization, drug discovery, pharmaceutical and vaccine development. Our mission is to simplify and accelerate biological analysis for biotherapeutic research and development.
We are hiring a full-time Senior Scientist to be based in Palo Alto. This scientist will be responsible for discovering new applications for existing products and developing immunoassay products based on both solid phase and liquid phase chemistry. This position will be involved in product development from feasibility to launch.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for exploring new bioconjugation, polymer, surface chemistry and reagent strategies to support BLI and immunoassays optimization and new development.
- Responsible for developing new applications on the existing biosensors.
- Assisting customers on complicated troubleshooting cases in collaboration with Manufacturing, R&D, Customer Success, and Sales.
- Creating new ideas for product development.
- Expert in Virus safety.
- Managing the BSL2 lab facility.
- Responsible for sample work-up.
- Understanding the QC and Manufacturing transfer process for new product development.
- Knowledge of QCM documentation for the Product Development life cycle.
Qualifications
- M.S. degree in life science (bioengineering /biochemistry/ biology/molecular biology/chemistry) required. Ph.D. is preferred. Post-doctoral experience is a plus.
- Hands-on experience in biochemistry, analytical or molecular biology laboratory is required; Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Working knowledge of optical system, biomaterial, surface chemistry, immunoassay (e.g., ELISA), antibody engineering, Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) or Biolayer Interferometry (BLI) is desirable.
- A commitment to delivering the highest quality work, with a strong track record of scientific accomplishments including publications, presentations, and industry experience.
- Strong communication skills and experience in giving scientific presentations.
- Strong leadership skills.
