The Opportunity

Leavitt Machinery is looking for an Organized Freight Coordinator to join our team in Portland, Oregon. As the Freight Coordinator you will be responsible for the management and coordination of equipment freight.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

As the Freight Coordinator your key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure the collection of transport costs for rental equipment and the use of the Leavitt owned trucks through AX and rental contracts
  • Report on freight expense recovery metrics by asset and region to ensure each asset is optimized effectively
  • Optimize the use of Leavitt owned freight trucks, wherever possible
  • Assess market freight rates to ensure that freight related to company assets is charged effectively, improving expense recovery
  • Track freight truck use to ensure cost reconciliation and to assess the utilization of these assets accurately
  • Administer rental freight deliveries for local branches in the most efficient and cost-effective manner
  • Coordinate and execute maintenance schedules for freight assets
  • Report on asset operating cost
  • Provide recommendations of freight asset additions, replacement, removals to best optimize freight expense recovery and asset equity
  • Report on freight asset lease and depreciation schedules to ensure proactive term end/end of life planning is in place
  • Ensure freight asset appearance aligns with company expectations through periodic audits and reporting
  • Ensure freight truck drivers credentials adhere to company requirements at all times and are proactively renewed and documented as needed

Required Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, knowledge, and competencies:

  • Post-secondary education in Business, Sales, Operations, or a related discipline is an asset
  • 1-3 years’ experience in a fast-paced sales or customer service environment
  • Working knowledge of transport truck capacities and limitations
  • Possess superior interpersonal, communications and analytical skills
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Experience with Microsoft CRM is an asset
  • Related industry experience an asset
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
  • Superior interpersonal skills, communication skills, and analytical skills
  • Must be a strong multi-tasker who can manage conflicting priorities in parallel
