Sr. VXT Engineer
Havrion is seeking a talented and ambitious Senior VXT Engineer with specialized expertise in the overall category of commercial digital signage. Beyond this, the ideal candidate possesses a deep and sophisticated comprehension of the Tizen operating system. This presumes an expert-level understanding of related subject matter, such as: Tizen application development and modification, SSSP version capabilities and limitations, device firmware interplay, app deployment methodologies (TBM, URL Launcher, etc.), best-practices specific to VXT and MagicInfo, as well as direct experience integrating with 3rd-party systems
Success in this role requires a balanced combination of technical savvy and emotional intelligence. The Solutions Architect must cultivate proficiency in both areas.
Technical Skills
Applicants will be expected to maintain an understanding of all hardware and software components included within - and tangential to - a given overall “solution”. This necessitates an enthusiasm for continuous learning and adaptation to emerging technologies. Beneficial areas of expertise include display technology, A/V delivery methods, IPTV and streaming, digital signage and CMS software, data-driven engagement, cloud architecture, etc. Bonus points may be awarded for any vertical-specific experience (i.e. retail, stadium and arena, hospitality, other). As needed, work with the CTO and Principal Architects to provide assistance on Proofs of Concept or other advice
People Skills: In support of both pre-sales and post-sales activity, a high frequency of customer-facing interaction is required. Complex technical concepts must often be translated into a message that is audience-appropriate yet delivered with effective clarity. Of equal importance to technical proficiency, upholding a professional communication style contributes to both the acquisition and retention of customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate intimately with sales team to help win new business. Gain understanding of customer goals, then identify, validate, and propose the technical methods to achieve the desired outcome.
- Serve as technical advisor throughout sales process. Address questions and concerns to ensure customers achieve a thorough understanding of our products and services.
- Consider and account for all technical details which could slow or disrupt sales-cycle momentum. Provide timely action for technical deliverables, aiding sales team with reduced time-to-close.
- Deliver product demonstrations and presentations for various audiences, up to executive level. Effectively communicate the value proposition of various Havrion software solutions.
- Assist in the development of a comprehensive technical documentation library. Could include architecture diagrams, how-to-guides, spec sheets, site-specific implementation maps, etc.
- Provide Tier-2 support as escalation path for Customer Success team. May include training and support for admin users, advanced troubleshooting to identify root-cause in complex environments, assisting integration partners and hardware installers, coordinating systems integrations.
- Support efforts of marketing team as needed. Validate fresh sales collateral for technical accuracy, host webinars, live demos at showrooms, general trade-show support (limited), participate in industry conversations and provide thought-leadership (social media, etc.)
- Stay informed regarding industry trends and emerging technologies relevant to our business. Identify threats and opportunities. Propose enhancements or new features for future products.
Desired Qualifications & Education
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science, or related fields
- 10+ years in AV-IT industry with focus on Samsung Tizen / VXT / MagicInfo solutions.
- Demonstrable proficiency in the manipulation of Tizen OS.
- Conversant in a broad range of tech concepts, such as HLS, CDN, DRM, Azure, etc.
- Strong understanding of digital display technologies, including LED/LCD displays, video walls, content delivery methods.
- Familiarity with Agile methodology
- Expertise in networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, VLANs, QoS, etc.), particularly as they relate to IPTV and digital signage deployments.
- Experience with video encoding and transcoding technologies, such as H.264, H.265, and HEVC.
- Solid grasp of control systems and integration protocol terminology as relevant to A/V hardware (MDC vs CEC, serial vs IP, etc.).
Desired Sales Experience:
- Proven track record of successfully supporting complex sales cycles and closing deals in a technical sales role.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with customers and effectively articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to create compelling technical proposals which simultaneously align the success of all involved parties and stakeholders. (We call that the “win-win-win”.)
- Experience in collaborating effectively across teams and organizations (sales teams, developers, PMs, marketeers, executives, and partners), ultimately driving all parties to the delivery of potent and successful results.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
