Job Description
The Digital Factory Release Train Engineer acts as a chief scrum master, coach to several squads (Teams of Teams/Programs) and ensures alignment across the Value Stream by providing knowledge and expertise to drive complex agile deliveries at scale.
The Release Train Engineer leads scrum of scrums and is accountable for end-to-end delivery of business solutions for the scope of the Digital Factory Team; Understands the strategy, needs and challenges of the business partners s/he supports as well as the end-to-end processes for those businesses. Oversees all products supporting that customer group within Digital Factory to ensure service levels are received and system changes are delivered to expectation. Accountable for the design, delivery, and support of solution using the Agile best practices.
What will your essential responsibilities include?
- Facilitate cross-domain ceremonies and synchronisation events across Teams of Teams
- Establish and communicate the Program Increment (PI) cadence/calendar of events and ensure reporting of Key Performance Indicators (KPI) on the delivery/products
- Establish the scope of services, service levels, and key processes required to deliver application services within the application portfolio
- Produce and maintain the roadmap of the products responsible for
- Align team to high-level organization goals and objectives
- Ensure Big Room Planning (BRP) readiness by fostering a Continuous Exploration process that drives the synthesis of a Vision, a Roadmap, and Backlogs, and through Pre- and Post-BRP Planning events
- Manage and report on budget and resource allocation and utilization
- Review and approve contracts for a predetermined level of authority
- Assist procurement to manage vendor relations and maintaining vendor accountability
- Drive improvements of ways of working via periodic synchronization events (e.g. PO Sync and Scrum of Scrums, helps to ensure cross streams alignment, progress / improvement on agile ways of working as a community of practice)
- Coach Leaders, Teams, Scrum Masters in agile practices at scale
- Responsible for overseeing technical lead(s), developer(s), Business analyst(s) and scrum master(s) within the delivery function.
- Support resolution of escalated risks and issues as a part of service Agile delivery
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers
- Produce high-level estimates as needed
- Protect and maintain AXA XL’s Intellectual Property
- Ensure all processes are documented and maintained
- Develop change management strategies and approaches and assist business partners with readiness and change implementation
- Provides audit support for both internal and external assessments; Articulates policies and standards as appropriate and provides all required evidence on a timely basis. Owns the completion of any action plans. .
- In collaboration with Procurement, manages RFI/RFPs, contract negotiations and delivery of contract terms.
You will report to the Head of DF Delivery.
We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:
- Expert level experience in planning and executing complex, large scale initiatives or operational area.
- Experience in working in scaled agile initiatives, in scrum mastery, coaching and complex deliveries
- Significant leadership experience in insurance and IT
- Experience working with Billing Platforms
- Knowledge on Insurance billing systems implementation is a plus
- Expertise in agile methodology and ways of working
- Significant experience working in a global and matrix environment
- Effective communication among squads to coordinate planning quarterly (real-time)
- Great leader who is eager to develop squads and drive relentless improvement
- Create an environment of mutual influence and support the squad commitments
- Understand the unique opportunities and challenges associated with facilitating and continuously aligning a large development program
- Foster Communities of Practice and the use of engineering and Built-In Quality practices
- Think beyond day-to-day activities; apply systems thinking

The U.S. pay range for this position is ($95,000 low range of low-cost location – $186,500 high range of ultra-high cost city). Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual’s skills, experience, and location. We strive for market alignment and internal equity with our colleagues’ pay.
