Position Summary
The manager of Environmental & Sustainability Services is responsible for analyzes and evaluates environmental regulations and laws. Ensures compliance by communicating information to employees and developing environmental procedures and policies. Assists managers, engineers and other employees by obtaining all required environmental permits and registrations and conducting required notifications for all existing and new facilities and projects. Supervises and coordinates work of Analysts outside contractors/consultants.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Monitors and analyzes federal, state and local environmental regulations and determines operational impact on other Business Units and disseminates requirements and recommendations to affected Business Units for CPS Energy to maintain compliance. Also develops regulatory strategy and options and solutions.
- Interacts and negotiates with regulatory agencies such as the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and the Environmental Protection Agency as well as responds to inquiries from the media and public representatives.
- Communicates technical sustainability and environmental information to internal customers.
- Testifies in public hearing and/or court proceedings as an expert witness on environmental issues.
- Develops and implements programs, conducts investigations and surveys related to environmental issues and identifies appropriate measures to ensure environmental risks are effectively managed.
- Obtains licensing and/or permitting for both existing and proposed CPS Energy facilities.
- Participates in community activities and trade show events promoting positive customer relations.
- Develops environmental awareness conservation and sustainable strategies.
- Maintains current professional, technical and regulatory knowledge through attendance at seminars and workshops and through the reading of industry publications/journals
- Develops environmental training tools and programs.
- Identifies, reviews and provides recommendations of proposed environmental issue standards, trends, research and technologies.
- Assists in the planning and installation of pollution control equipment.
- Analyzes and maintains detailed environmental records, air emission and water discharge data, waste generation data, etc.
- May provide leadership, work assignments, evaluation, training, and guidance to others.
- Analyzes and maintains detailed environmental recordkeeping for accuracy and submits all required agency reports (TCEQ, EPA, etc.) by deadlines and analyzes and maintains detailed environmental records, air emission and water discharge data, waste generation data.

Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Engineering or related field
