Demand Planner, Private Label - US - Apex, NC

The Blueprint (Role Profile)

We are currently seeking a Demand Planner to support key Private Label accounts. The Demand Planner will be responsible for developing detailed analytics to drive improvement opportunities, evaluating fundamental retail data and generating an 18-month forecast for Key Accounts.

This role will be located in Apex NC or Sparks MD. Occasional travel may be required, not expected to exceed 15% in a given month.

The Build (Responsibilities)

  • Manage the demand plan and sales estimate process for Private Label Accounts.
  • Develop an 18-month SKU forecast utilizing customer POS/Inventory data, historical demand data, promotional plans, and new product introduction strategies.
  • Transform data into actionable insights; design and conduct complex ad-hoc analyses with a high degree of independence.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Customer teams to review exceptions, understand ordering processes, and align forecasts.
  • Lead a monthly demand review focused on gaining consensus on demand forecasts and sales estimates.
  • Manage the daily operations process including review of daily orders, forecast consumption, material shortages, demand variance, supply exposure, service level, and customer systems issues.
  • Utilize the Rapid Response (Kinaxis) demand planning system, Tableau reporting, and SAP/BW to manage the forecasting and analytics process.
  • Work with cross-functional teams including Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, and Supply Planning to achieve fill rate targets.
  • Improve upon existing Demand Forecasting statistical or machine learning methodologies by developing model enhancements, running computational experiments, and fine-tuning model parameters for new forecasting models.


The Toolbox (Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, Statistics, Computer Science or a related field is required
  • 2+ years’ experience in demand planning in a consumer’s products environment; experience specific to the tool industry or retail sales is preferred
  • Previous experience as a leader or participant operating within a Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process and framework is preferred
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Advanced proficiency with Tableau and MS Excel is preferred. Working knowledge of Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) and Rapid Response (Kinaxis) is a plus
  • Experience with scripting and automation through programs like Alteryx and/or languages such as Python, R, Visual Basic, or Powershell is a plus
