We are currently looking for a talented and motivated Technical Product Sales Manager to join our dynamic team and help drive the growth of our specialty products division.
Job Summary
The Technical Product Sales Manager will lead the sales, development, and marketing of specialized products within the conveyor belt industry. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, sales acumen, and leadership capabilities to ensure the successful promotion and delivery of key product lines, including belt inspection services, splice materials, lagging, wear materials, and fabrication design. You will manage sales operations, supervise team members, and provide clients with technical solutions tailored to their needs. The position involves travel across North America to engage with clients, provide technical services, and support sales initiatives at mine sites and distributor locations.
Key Responsibilities
Sales and Business Development:
- Develop and implement sales strategies for Belt Inspection Services and other specialty products, including splice materials, lagging, and wear materials.
- Identify new business opportunities and foster long-term relationships with clients and partners across North America.
- Drive sales growth by engaging with existing and prospective clients, delivering technical presentations, and demonstrating product value.
Technical Expertise and Product Development:
- Lead the coordination and execution of belt inspection services to ensure seamless operations and superior customer service.
- Collaborate with internal teams to oversee the development and design of specialized products, ensuring they meet industry standards and client needs.
- Act as the subject matter expert on technical products, offering clients tailored solutions that address their unique operational challenges.
Marketing and Market Development:
- Work closely with the marketing team to ensure that promotional materials effectively communicate the technical capabilities and advantages of the product lines.
- Conduct market research to identify customer needs and emerging trends, positioning AFM's products competitively within the market.
Team Management:
- Supervise and mentor team members, ensuring they are well-utilized as resources within the Special Products Team.
- Provide guidance on sales techniques, product knowledge, and customer relationship management.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration with production, research/development, and marketing teams to drive product development and sales initiatives.
Travel and Client Engagement:
- Travel to mine sites and distributors across North America to engage directly with clients, provide technical services, and support sales growth.
- Attend industry trade shows, conferences, and events to promote AFM’s products and gather insights on industry trends.
Reporting and Analysis:
- Produce and deliver comprehensive technical reports following belt inspections and services.
- Develop and maintain sales reports, forecasts, and budgets, and provide regular updates to senior leadership on market trends, customer feedback, and product performance.
Any other duties as required by management
Qualifications:
- Proven track record of success in sales, preferably in the technical or industrial product space. Experience in both inside and outside sales is required.
- A background in mechanical or industrial engineering is preferred.
- Experience with rubber materials is an advantage.
- Understanding of conveyor belt systems, particularly in the mining and quarry industries is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex technical concepts to clients.
- Strong analytical abilities to interpret reports and provide actionable recommendations.
- Computer Savvy - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software. Experience with analysis software related to technical product reporting is an asset.
- Supervisory experience with the ability to manage and mentor a team effectively. Strong organizational and leadership capabilities
- Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel to mine sites and distributors across North America for client meetings, technical services, sales initiatives, and industry events.
- Marketing Acumen: Ability to create and implement marketing strategies to promote technical products, with a solid understanding of market positioning and customer engagement.
