Lead with a team of dedicated leaders
To develop our North American marine business, we are looking for a Market Director to join our Business Development Marine team. You will work closely with a team of national and international experts in marine, ports, and coastal design. With a focus on the West Coast, you will lead our business development efforts for ports, NAVFAC, marine terminals, and other waterfront infrastructure and resiliency opportunities.
Your key tasks will be to:
- Identify strategic clients/proposals, build and maintain pipeline, ensuring integrity of and regular updating of the COWI Pipeline for Marine pursuits
- Build strategic customer relations and identify substantial business potential within the customer portfolio
- Develop capture planning, teaming, and oversee proposal efforts for key pursuits
- Provide oversight to proposal managers and collaborate with other Marine Project Managers and with the Marine Market Director focused on the Eastern US
- Develop and implement action items in alignment with our growth ambitions
- Define annual revenue targets in the sector and ensure a sufficient pipeline is identified in conjunction with senior management
- Support the recruitment of key personnel with the VPs of Engineering
- Support the overall development of the business area, encompassing sales development, professional growth, and general leadership

On top of that, you will have:
- A minimum of 20+ years of experience focused on marine ports and shoreline infrastructure, licensed as a PE in the US
- A M.S. degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or Coastal
- Experience in identifying market opportunities and establishing client relationships for successful pursuit acquisition
- Demonstrated ability to foster a customer-focused business mindset within the organization
- Proven history of ensuring satisfactory project outcomes aligned with agreed terms during handover
- Prior experience meeting internal financial goals
- Significant background experience in maintaining high customer satisfaction and effectively engaging stakeholders
- Previous success in meeting project financial goals, building customer trust for future business growth, and developing additional services or projects

Base compensation: $200,000 to $267,000 for Oakland and Seattle locations only. Actual compensation is subject to variations due to education, experience, skill set, and location.
