The Work You Will Do:

Employment Program Specialist is a member of Recovery Unit within Reemployment Assistance/Claims Processing Bureau.

Your Specific Responsibilities:

This is highly independent and specialized work in the Payment Processing Center of the Benefit Payment Control Section. This position requires knowledge of the Reemployment Assistance Law, applicable Federal regulations, and policies and procedures of the department. The position requires knowledge of standard accounting and bookkeeping principles and applicable Federal and State laws.


Under the supervision of the Benefits Program Supervisor/Analyst the incumbent will serve as Employment Program Specialist in the Audit/ Payment Processing Center Unit of the Benefit Payment Control Section.


Determines payments due for services provided to contractors collecting reemployment assistance overpayments and in cooperation with Financial Management ensures such payments are correct and timely


Processes payments and applies payments accurately and timely.


Ensures reports and logs that provide required accounting audit trails are completed accurately and timely.


Reviews and reconciles accounts receivables report from vendors contracted to assist with collecting reemployment assistance overpayments and resolves all discrepancies.


Researches and writes support requests asking that back out/applied payments can be re-applied to the correct fund or benefit year or requests refunds as directed.


Performs routine office/administrative functions as needed including establishment and maintenance of section files, coordination of maintenance/repair agreements for office support equipment such as copiers, fax machines, computers, etc., and ordering office supplies. Creates vacancy announcements and monitors activity with regarding the hiring process, including collection and pre-screening of applications, creating spreadsheets for analysis of candidates, coordinates background checks and processing personnel paperwork for the hiring package. Assists as needed in the preparation of other personnel forms.


Performs other related work as assigned to include administrative duties.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


Knowledge, skills, and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position:

  • Knowledge of the principles of budget preparation and administration.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to determine work priorities and ensure proper completion of work assignments.
  • Ability to maintain records and prepare reports.
  • Ability to collect, record, and analyze data.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to solve problems and make decisions.
  • Ability to prepare financial statements and reports.
  • Ability to design and implement accounting systems.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain a variety of accounting records.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret accounting data

Qualifications:

As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records.


Minimum:

Preferred:

  • A minimum of 2 years in data analysis experience
  • A minimum of 2 years in customer service experience
