Job Description

Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Coordinator of Crisis Services, will serve individuals requiring an enhanced level of support for substance use disorders and/or Co-occurring disorders who access CMHA-CEI’s Crisis Services. The Recovery Coach will serve as a role model, mentor, advocate, and motivator to individuals seeking recovery to help access services and supports, prevent relapse and promote long-term recovery. Responsible for carrying out all activities of the program/sub-unit in such a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies, and procedures.

Requirements: Possession of a high school diploma or G.E.D. is required. Must have two continuous years in recovery from addiction(s) with experience navigating treatment services and/or prevention; experience receiving publicly funded treatment and recovery services for addiction. One year of experience interacting with persons with substance use disorder is required. Must possess the MDHHS Peer Recovery certification or the MCBAP Certified Peer Recovery Mentor certification. Ability to communicate accurately and effectively both orally and in writing is required. Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for job-related use is required.

Conditional Employment Requirements: Most possess a valid Michigan driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for job-related use. Must possess MDHHS Peer Recovery Coach certification or the MCBAP Certified Peer Recovery Mentor certification or must become certified within a maximum of (1) year from the date of hire. Employment offers for this position will be contingent upon the results of a Michigan State Police clearance check (including fingerprinting), a pre-employment physical exam, verification of an acceptable driving record, an educational background check, and verification of an acceptable work history. MUST be able to pass a 5-panel pre-employment drug screen. Candidate must be able to pass a physical exam annually and is required to receive a Quantiferon TB test tri-annually.

Salary/Hours: Starting salary $19.62 - $21.18 per hour. 20 hours per week, The Schedule is flexible and will be discussed at the interview.
