We are looking for a talented individual to join Alberta Grains in the role of Loan Support Specialist. Reporting to the Manager, FarmCash, this role will be instrumental in ensuring the seamless operation of our loan servicing department. Your role involves providing comprehensive assistance to both loan officers and borrowers throughout the loan lifecycle. This includes managing inquiries, resolving issues, maintaining accurate records, gathering necessary documentation for loan processing, and assisting in loan adjudication when required. Your commitment to delivering exceptional customer service and your proficiency in lending procedures will be the key to our team's success.


Job Type: this is a full-time position, 40 hours/week, working in the office.


Job duties include, but are not limited to:


Customer Support:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for borrowers, guiding them through the loan process with professionalism and expertise.
  • Respond promptly and courteously to borrower inquiries, concerns, and requests.

Application Processing:

  • Assist loan officers in processing loan applications, ensuring all required documentation is collected, verified, and compliant with regulations and internal policies.

Loan Adjudication:

  • Adjudicate loans during peak periods and as needed, ensuring adherence to lending criteria and the accuracy of loan documents.
  • Use the 5 Cs credit analysis model to mitigate risks (character, capacity, capital, collateral and conditions).

Communication Facilitation:

  • Serve as a liaison between loan officers, borrowers, and other stakeholders, ensuring clear and effective communication.
  • Keep all parties informed of the status of loan applications and any necessary actions.

Issue Resolution:

  • Identify and resolve issues or discrepancies related to loan applications, documentation, or borrower inquiries.
  • Escalate complex issues as necessary to ensure timely resolution.

Compliance Monitoring:

  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of lending regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure all lending activities adhere to applicable laws and internal policies.

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Generate reports and analyze data related to loan processing and customer inquiries.
  • Identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities to enhance efficiency.
  • Additional responsibilities may be delegated to meet operational requirements.


Experience and qualifications:


  • Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree in finance or banking.
  • Must have at least 2 years of experience in lending or adjudication.
  • Knowledgeable about various loan products and lending principles.
  • Understanding of Equifax reports, corporate, and lien searches.
  • Highly motivated and goal-driven, with outstanding customer service and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams), as well as other office applications.
