This position plays a critical role in building and nurturing relationships with fleet owners, helping them effectively sell their equipment directly through the Sell My Rig platform.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a driven, outgoing Outside Sales Representative to join our expanding team. This role is key to building connections with truck fleets, positioning Sell My Rig as a trusted partner in fleet asset sales. Success in this role will involve proactive networking, consistent engagement with fleet owners, and an in-depth understanding of market trends in the trucking industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Specialization in Product Lines:
- Specialize in the sale of Class 8 trucks, reefer trailers, and dry vans, serving as the subject matter expert for these types of equipment.
- Regional Growth and Market Expansion:
- Establish and grow sales of Class 8 trucks, reefer trailers, and dry vans in the region through strategic partnership and collaboration with team members across departments.
- Sales Strategy and Customer Engagement:
- Identify and engage prospective customers across the region, consulting with them to understand business needs and offering solutions to meet those needs.
- Develop and apply targeted sales strategies to increase market share within the designated Area of Operation (AOR).
- Pipeline and Relationship Development:
- Build a robust customer pipeline by actively following up with leads, providing accurate information, and demonstrating Sell My Rig’s commitment to being a trusted partner.
- Foster strong relationships with potential buyers, maintaining regular contact to drive repeat business and referrals.
- Collaboration and Cross-Departmental Coordination:
- Collaborate closely with Truck Sales, Finance, Parts, Service, Leasing, and Marketing teams to promote products, develop advertising, and fulfill customer needs.
- Fully utilize Salesforce CRM to track and manage all sales activities and client interactions.
- Industry Relationships and Product Support:
- Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and OEM representatives to facilitate product support, warranty assistance, and prompt service for customers.
- Leverage key supplier and OEM relationships to add incremental value to customer transactions and satisfaction.
- Customer Solutions and Specification Development:
- Develop and customize specifications for customers based on their unique needs, ensuring Sell My Rig’s offerings align with customer requirements and preferences.
- Actively work with the Marketing team to promote and advertise relevant products to targeted audiences.
- Market Insight and Adaptation:
- Stay informed about market trends, competitor offerings, and industry shifts, using insights to adjust sales strategies and better serve customers.
Compensation:
- Base Salary: $42,000 per year
- Tiered Commission Structure: Uncapped commission based on the number of assets you bring in, with significant earning potential as you grow inventory listings for Sell My Rig.
Qualifications:
- Sales Experience: 1+ years of experience in outside sales, ideally within the commercial truck or equipment industry.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with Class 8 semi-trucks and trailers (sleepers, dry vans, and reefers).
- Travel Ability: Willingness to travel up to 75% for client meetings and industry events.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong networking and communication skills for building and sustaining relationships.
- Self-Motivated: Ability to work independently while being an essential part of a team.
- Market Awareness: Familiar with industry trends and the ability to leverage insights.
- Transportation: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Pay Range: $55,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
