Job Function
The Business Development Manager (BDM) will lead efforts to grow Coatings sales across North America, driving revenue and meeting gross profit (GP) targets. This role involves managing select key accounts, aligning sales activities with budget goals, and collaborating closely with Coatings and Coatings Segment Business Managers and their sales teams to expand market share and secure new Coatings sales.
Responsibilities

Sales Strategy Development:
Develop and execute sales strategies to expand market share and drive revenue growth, ensuring alignment with budgeted revenue and GP objectives. -
Key Account Ownership:
Manage select key accounts, ensuring alignment with revenue goals and cultivating relationships to drive long-term growth. -
Collaborative Growth Initiatives:
Partner with Pigments and Coatings Segment Business Managers and their sales teams to increase market share and boost dry Coatings sales. -
Team Coaching and Mentorship:
Train and mentor the sales team, providing them with the knowledge and tools needed to identify and secure new business opportunities effectively. -
Market Expertise:
Stay updated on Coatings technologies and industry trends to guide sales strategies and ensure competitive product offerings. -
Creative Sourcing Solutions:
Identify and negotiate opportunities for importing and reselling Coatings from global suppliers to diversify product offerings and improve profitability. -
Leadership of Sales Initiatives:
Lead targeted sales initiatives aligned with company objectives, tracking progress towards achieving set goals. -
Performance Analysis and Reporting:
Monitor sales performance metrics, providing regular reports with insights and strategic recommendations to leadership. -
Global Collaboration:
Coordinate with commercial leadership and account managers across regions to align on growth initiatives, share best practices, and leverage synergies. -
Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and fostering loyalty.
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Chemistry, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Proven experience in business development or sales management within Coatings or related industries.
- In-depth knowledge of Coatings technologies, applications, and market dynamics.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in coaching and developing high-performing sales teams.
- Ability to identify and pursue creative sourcing opportunities in a global marketplace.
- Exceptional analytical skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel as needed to meet clients and support business initiatives.
