GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Join the Office of the Attorney General’s Child Support Division (CSD) in our mission to encourage responsible parenting by promoting the involvement of both parents and ensuring children receive the support the need and deserve.

Performs highly complex (senior-level) case management work. Work involves reviewing and tracking case management activities and assisting in developing program goals, objectives, and procedures. May supervise the work of others. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

This position will require the daily management of an assigned caseload of customers who have experienced family violence. Duties will include conducting regular outreach to customers to determine risk and needs assessments, information gathering to complete intake questions, making proper referrals to external service providers, collecting data, and working collaboratively with agency partners such as Child Support Officers, Assistant Attorneys General, and state-level program staff to promote safe access to child support services within the child support program. Work involves reviewing and tracking case management activities and assisting in developing program goals, objectives, and procedures. This position will be well supported by specialized training and regular involvement from family violence experts around the state and program administrators directly involved in the grant opportunity.

This is a two-year grant-funded position that will be instrumental in implementing innovative and new case management practices within the organization. Grant funded employees enjoy the same benefits as all other employees within the agency.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS
Conducts regular customer outreach and makes case management recommendations as well as coordinates the development and implementation of customers’ service and referral plans.
Conducts and/or coordinates transition planning to ensure understanding and continuity of case management according to identified risk factors and customer needs.
Reviews clients referred to case management and tracks progress through the case management intake and screening process.
Participates in the quality assurance and utilization review processes for case management to ensure quality services.
Prepares reports on program activities and prepares reports on referrals to external service providers.
Identifies problem areas, service gaps, and areas that are barriers to services for customers. Develops and conducts presentations and orientations.
Documents case records and prepares and reviews reports.
Assists in the development of policies and procedures.
Assists with program monitoring and evaluation.
Assists with intra-agency or interagency service coordination and referral problems.
Provides excellent customer service.
Performs related work as assigned
Maintains relevant knowledge necessary to perform essential job functions
Attends work regularly in compliance with agreed-upon work schedule
Ensures security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected information
Complies with all agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrity


Qualifications


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; experience in the following (or closely related) fields may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis: Texas child support system, domestic violence advocacy, survivor advocacy, case management, grants administration, work with domestic/family violence survivors or social work.
Experience: 2 years of full-time experience working in the following (or closely related) fields: case management, domestic violence advocacy, survivor advocacy, social work, grants administration, or the Texas child support system.
Knowledge of the principles associated with social work or case management.
Skills in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines.
Ability to work with external contracted partners.
Ability to handle sensitive and emotional topics with empathy and compassion.
Willingness to call both a survivor and a person causing harm to remind them of case status, provide assistance where necessary, and conduct surveys.
Skill in effective oral and written communication
Skill in exercising sound judgment and effective decision making
Ability to receive and respond positively to constructive feedback
Ability to work cooperatively with others in a professional office environment
Ability to provide excellent customer service
Ability to work in person at assigned OAG work location, perform all assigned tasks at designated OAG work space within OAG work location, and perform in-person work with coworkers (e.g., collaborating, training, mentoring) for the entirety of every work week (unless on approved leave)
Ability to arrange for personal transportation for business-related travel
Ability to work more than 40 hours as needed and in compliance with the FLSA
Ability to lift and relocate 30 lbs.
Ability to travel (including overnight travel) up to 20%
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s or advanced degree in social work, psychology or sociology.
Experience: Worked as an advocate or employed in work related to family violence, domestic violence or intimate partner violence.
Knowledge: Understanding and knowledge of the Texas child support system, the dynamics associated with domestic or family violence and/or grant administration.
Skills: Having worked with domestic or family violence survivors and/or the person causing harm.
Abilities: Ability to be compassionate and empathic, while managing the parameters of the grant and the Child Support Division’s policies.
Other Language: Ability to proficiently read, write, and speak Spanish
