Job Description
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Environmental Sustainability Manager, the Sustainability Analyst is responsible for coordinating Island Health's carbon reporting and self-certification process and tracking Island Health-wide sustainability metrics. This will include managing contracts and invoicing related to BC Hydro, Fortis BC, and other funding agencies. The Analyst provides financial and administrative support for the Environmental Sustainability team by preparing and reconciling cost and statistical data for energy and sustainability projects, performing duties such as preparing budget documentation, reviewing contractor invoices and claims, calculating project charges, analyzing financial statistics and maintaining related records.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training And Experience
A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a certificate in a related discipline such as sustainability, data analytics, carbon and energy reporting, or business administration, plus 3 years' experience specializing in sustainability and / or energy management administration.
Skills And Abilities
- Knowledge of building systems, BC Hydro Power Smart Program, FortisBC Energy Efficiency and Conservation Program and Carbon Neutral Government
- Comprehensive knowledge of greenhouse gas reporting methodology and self-certification process.
- Thorough working knowledge of British Columbia governments CGRT greenhouse gas reporting software or similar program.
- Familiarity and knowledge of Sustainability Management software tools.
- Familiarity and knowledge of sustainability systems and best practices including: energy, waste, transportation, systems thinking, and community based social marketing.
- Thorough understanding of the capital process and experience with capital and energy projects.
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience in contract management.
- Thorough understanding of available resources for projects and applicable stakeholder groups.
- Quantitative reasoning skills and the ability to comprehend, synthesize, benchmark and analyze data.
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to ensure information is communicated appropriately.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other members of the Island Health Energy Management/Sustainability Team, FMO Managers, and other key Island Health departments.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365 suite.
