CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • New employees of the Department of Military Affairs will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  • New employees of the Department of Military Affairs are required to participate in a direct deposit/electronic transfer program.
  • The Department of Military Affairs is paid on a monthly basis.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS TO UPLOAD WITH APPLICATION:

  • Officer Record Brief (ORB) or Airforce equivalent (Certified by the unit): Updated copy within 180 days of job closing date.
  • Officer Efficiency Report (OER) or Airforce Officer Performance Report (OPR): All copies during the last 5 years to include current (current is defined as “any evaluation with thru date within 90 days of close date of announcement). OER must be Profiled; if missing profiled copy explain in memo.
  • Army/Airforce Individual Medical Readiness Record (MEDPROS): (Individual Medical Readiness):
  • DA Form 705 /Airforce Form 4446 (Physical Fitness Test (PFT)), must include the last 3 calendar years of all record PFT’s. (M-Day-3 tests). Include a memo to panel president explaining each missing PFT. Include a current copy of your DA FM 3349, if profiled for any event during your current PFT.
  • Official Military Photo.
  • DA Form 3349/AF Form 422 (optional): If profiled for any event during your current APFT.
  • Resume: Focus on official military training and civilian experience.
  • Letters of Recommendation (optional): Must be from a Rater and/or Senior Rater on the Evaluations (OER/OPR) submitted with application or your immediate Supervisor.
  • DD Form 214, if applicable.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a current member of the Florida National Guard within the grade(s) of O3 or O4
  • Must have a SECRET security clearance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as a liaison between the Florida State Guard (FSG) staff and the DMA sections, including Human Resources, Information Technology, General Counsel Office, Public Affairs Office, State Quartermaster office and Florida National Guard staff sections.
  • Responsible for the overall coordination, training, and execution of the Current Operations Cell which includes the JFHQ-FL JOC, personnel, and accomplishment of the four (4) core competencies: Information/Knowledge Management, Mission/Task assignment tracking, SA, and Historical Documentation. Provides situational and operational updates to General Officers, Chief of Staff, Directors/Special Staff, J3, and authorized visitors. Conducts meetings, conference calls, and video teleconferences to facilitate current operations with all mission partners.
  • Upon receipt of new mission assignments, coordinates direct response or further coordination with J35, Future Operations. Participates in J35 future operations planning groups. Plans YTC/YTG and all exercises for the Joint Operations Group (JOG). Plans and conducts the yearly statewide Hurricane Exercise to ensure proficiency of the FLNG during disaster response. Plans and conducts other exercises as needed. Ensures briefings and reports are timely/accurate.
  • Senior planner in coordinating and preparing contingency plans to support FLNG and other state agencies in emergencies and disasters.
  • Coordinates, observes, and participates in joint training exercises between state agencies and FLNG outside the JOC.
  • Assists in preparing the FLNG Defense Support to Civilian Authorities (DSCA) plans, oversees execution of NG7S budget execution, and property accountability.
  • Conducts FLNG overview briefings to state, local, and county planners. Represents Director, FL-DEM, and Director, J2/J3/J7/JDOMS, and the FLNG.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of military doctrine in Military Support to Civil Authorities
  • Knowledge of military plans and formats
  • Knowledge of military and civilian writing skills
  • Public speaking skills
  • Knowledge of FLNG unit capabilities in making decisions during emergencies
  • Knowledge of military staffs and special staffs
  • Knowledge of state government and state agencies
  • Knowledge of operational security requirements
  • Knowledge of state and federal guidelines in utilization of the FLNG
