What you will be responsible for:
Aro Homes is seeking a Global Commodity Manager – Construction Materials & Services who is a dynamic leader and construction management professional with a robust understanding of building materials, services, systems and procedures to support our procurement function. As part of our Procurement department, you will report to the Director of Procurement and will be responsible for managing mission-critical construction materials and services across all orgs - from procurement to customer success and everyone in between - in order to ensure seamless company-wide communication and top-notch performance as we scale nationwide. You will be the cross-functional partner and will support a broad swath of critical business processes. You’ll develop and maintain a product roadmap for our internal systems that is focused on making us more effective at achieving current objectives and being prepared for future initiatives. A successful candidate will be highly organized, technically nimble, and obsessed with automation and the customer experience.

What You'll Do:

  • Drive the full Materials management cycle for your roadmap: Discovery, Validation, Development, Launch and Measure/Iterate.
  • Lead market analyses thorough market research, competitive bidding, supplier onboarding, competitor benchmarking, and implementation of new products (NPI).
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors, contractors, and suppliers to secure reliable sources for construction materials and services.
  • Communicate and craft compelling strategic and tactical approaches and share them across our internal teams.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to understand opportunities to scale and drive efficiencies throughout our ecosystem.
  • Join forces with both Design, Engineering and Manufacturing teams to shape the future of our internal products and how we leverage the 3rd party platforms we rely on.
  • Work in partnership with the finance team to develop and manage budgets for architectural product development, ensuring cost-effectiveness and profitability.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and documentation of internal and external system functionality, customizations, and integrations, and proactively identify opportunities for process and workflow improvements.

  • You are comfortable leveraging your expertise to perform some key administrative functions across multiple areas of the business.
  • Entrepreneurial and resourceful. As an early member of a startup, we need people who can find creative ways to make a big impact without massive amounts of resources.

What You’ve Done:

  • You have 3+ years of materials management or related experience in construction and operations.
  • You have a proven track record of optimizing processes and systems.
  • You have experience with systems integration, data flow, report generations, and automation of manual processes.
  • You have experience with NetSuite systems, bonus if you have a base knowledge and experience with shop drawings and design/architectural related plans.
  • Have demonstrated a deep empathy for users and their experience with every aspect of your materials.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management/related field or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of architectural design principles, materials, and construction processes.
  • Proven experience in architectural product management within the residential construction industry.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to Company Culture and Core Competencies.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
  • Shows professional restraint and seeks to reduce stress, help others and find solutions to problems.
  • Ability to efficiently use computer systems including Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite - Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.; commitment to learning and becoming a proficient user of the company’s information management system.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Activity, Physical Requirements, Visual Acuity and Work Conditions:

  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.
  • May require periods of travel.
  • Normal office environment.
  • Frequent activity: Sitting, Viewing Computer Screen.
  • Occasional activity: Standing, Walking, Bending, Climbing, Reaching above Shoulder, Pushing, Pulling.
