The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Senior Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer to join our Central Engineering team in Voisey’s Bay, Labrador, a fly-in fly-out operation.
This is a permanent on-site position, working a two week on two weeks off rotation at our Voisey’s Bay Mine Site. This role may also require infrequent travel to other operations as per business needs.
As a Senior Engineer Electrical and Instrumentation, you will provide innovative engineering design solutions to operating and maintenance problems, technical support to operating plants and mines, technical direction to external engineering consultants & construction contractors and technical guidance and mentoring to other members of the Central Engineering team.
Additionally, in this position you will:
- Prepare engineering packages for operations, maintenance, and capital projects, utilizing good engineering practices and considering risk, while minimizing costs.
- Prepare accurate engineering design deliverables such as drawings, specifications, scopes of work, risk assessments and cost estimates. Stamp/seal designs/drawings prepared under their direction.
- Conduct field inspections and prepare reports. Translate operating requirements into optimum designs, prepares contract specifications and makes technically accurate and feasible recommendations.
- Provides technical support to the operations and maintenance teams to ensure reliable operation of equipment and recommendations for safety when required under relevant Acts and Legislation.
- Support the development of project budgets and schedules by providing expert knowledge and developing material take-offs based on engineering deliverables.
- Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and regulations.
- Function as the team leader/member to lead single discipline and multi-discipline engineering projects.
- Apply mature engineering knowledge and exercises leadership, mentoring and training to other design and engineering personnel.
- Has strong working experience with Electrical design, analysis, and repair, and strong knowledge of various mining, and surface operations equipment.
About You
Education:
- Undergraduate Degree in Engineering
- Registered P.Eng
Experience:
- Minimum of 8years Experience in a similar role.
Skills:
- Uses software for analysis.
- Audits compliance of Electrical design codes, acts, regulations
- Designs engineered solutions for electrical and instrumentation projects and problems
- Applies practical experience with mine, mill and surface equipment to design packages
