COMPETITIVE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Candidates must have permanent competitive status as an Office Assistant 1 (Keyboarding) and be eligible for a lateral transfer.
OR
2. Eligible to transfer via section 70.1 of Civil Service Law by having at least one year of permanent service in a qualifying title. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in an advancement of more than two salary grades. Duties Description
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Office Assistant 1 (Keyboarding) serves as the clerical support to the Incident Management Team in the Quality Supports Office.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties may include but are not limited to:
  • The Office Assistant will be responsible for answering and responding to telephone inquiries, transferring questions to appropriate staff.
  • Filing records, entering, and updating electronic data and assisting the Incident Management Unit with the IRMA statewide database.
  • The Office Assistant will also act as a training resource to the Incident Unit’s functions and systems will generate and send letters to CCOs regarding final investigations of incidents.
  • Track Verification of Recommendations for completed investigations.
  • Generate 148 letters to families.
  • This position will help ensure we remain in compliance with our oversight agencies.

NY HELPS
This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). HELPS Program titles may be filled via a non-competitive appointment. This means that you do not need to take an exam to qualify, but you do need to meet the minimum qualifications of the title.

If you are hired under the HELPS Program, you will be first be appointed as a temporary employee. In May 2024, if you are performing successfully in the position, your appointment will be changed from temporary to permanent non-competitive. Once you are in permanent status, your official probationary period will begin and you may take any promotion exam for which you are qualified. At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), employees hired under NY HELPS are expected to have their permanent non-competitive employment status converted to permanent competitive status. You will not have to take an exam to gain permanent competitive status.

  • The assignment of PS&T employees will be made in accordance with any agreed upon Memorandum of Understanding between PEF and the local DDSO regarding the posting of job vacancies.
