About the Role
Mangrove is seeking an exceptional individual to play a key role in their multidisciplinary engineering team. The Automation Engineer will work with the engineering team to design, program, commission, and troubleshoot various PLC, HMI & SCADA control systems at Mangrove’s future facilities. The successful applicant will demonstrate their abilities through various projects with both PLC control systems & site wide SCADA systems.
The ideal candidate will possess a diverse and well-rounded technical skill set, including strong knowledge of industrial electrical control systems, troubleshooting and familiarity with site and machine-level electrical drawings. A proven track record of successfully executing projects in a product development and technology commercialization environment is essential. This role will primarily work out of our Delta, BC facility, with some opportunities to work remotely when appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC systems, with a strong emphasis on Rockwell platforms.
- Develop and maintain SCADA system, using Inductive Automation’s Ignition platform.
- Work with EPCs and partners to review equipment specifications and develop equipment integration strategies.
- Work with a variety of instrumentation to ensure accurate data collection and control.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.
- Provide technical support and training to end-users as needed.
- Prepare/review contract documentation including equipment specs, cable schedules, installation specs, equipment procurement documents, sub-contractor requisitions, scope-of-work, bill-of-materials, process narratives, monitoring of schedule, quality of deliverables and budgets.
- Work with the engineering team and various vendors to integrate a variety of systems into our facilities
- Support our in-house pilot plant with expertise on electrical, automation and instrumentation topics.
- Create/review electrical drawings for small to medium electrical control panels.
- Maintain processes and documentation within the engineering team.
Qualifications andExperience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years of industrial experience and strong interest to work in R&D and product development environment.
- Previous experience working with and managing EPC companies.
- Previous experience with piping, pumps, solids handling, and rotating equipment.
- Experience with drafting and modifying 2D AutoCAD files
- Familiarity with use of 3D plant modelling software.
- Familiarity with industrial instrumentation is desired.
- Be a registered professional with Engineers and Geoscientists BC or have the ability to readily become one.
- Demonstrated project management capability.
- Basic understanding of electrochemistry would be an asset.

- Excellent critical thinking, analysis, and creative problem-solving.
- Ability to interact with a wide range of scientists and engineers.
