Job Description

OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Director, Data Architecture and Engineering, the Cloud Engineer is responsible for working with cross-functional teams to drive scalable, secure, and resilient cloud solutions. The Cloud Engineer will play a pivotal role in the design, implementation, and management of our cloud infrastructure. This position will support our cloud migration efforts and help architect solutions that meet the demands of a modern, data-driven organization. Working under the Director of Architecture and Engineering and collaborating closely with our technology and product teams, you’ll be responsible for optimizing our cloud infrastructure, ensuring it aligns with best practices and meets operational requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cloud Architecture and Migration: Design and implement cloud-based solutions to support the migration of existing systems and applications to the cloud. Collaborate with project teams to ensure the smooth transition of critical applications to a cloud environment.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop and maintain IaC scripts and templates using tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation to automate the deployment of cloud resources.
  • Security and Compliance: Work closely with our security and compliance teams to ensure cloud solutions adhere to company policies and regulatory standards, implementing best practices for data security and protection (SOC1/SOC2 compliance).
  • Monitoring and Optimization: Set up monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to track performance and ensure high availability of cloud resources. Optimize cloud services to balance performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaboration and Support: Collaborate with development, operations, and data teams to provide guidance on cloud best practices and to troubleshoot any issues. Act as a resource for cross-functional teams working with cloud-based solutions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with cloud technology advancements and recommend enhancements to improve performance, reliability, and cost efficiency of our cloud infrastructure.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Experience/Knowledge/Competencies/Skills

  • Proven experience as a Cloud Engineer, with a track record of designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud solutions, preferably on AWS and Azure.
  • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, such as Terraform, Terragrunt, Cloud Formation.
  • Setup of ETL processes.
  • Solid understanding of networking and security principles, especially within cloud environments. VPN/VPC
  • Comfortable setting up EC2 and ECS, Redshift, AppFlow and Glue. Data connections to be built to SAP and Dynamics 365.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Knowledge of cloud cost management strategies within AWS and Azure.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with an analytical and proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Working Hours

  • Covering the core hours of operation, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM ET, this is a Full-Time position, working forty (40) hours per week.
  • Extra or flexible hours may be required on occasion.

  • Remote.
